The size, style and functionality are perfect for me.
I really like this lamp. I have it beside my computer and I use it every day when I am checking my e-mail or going over the news. It is nice that can be fold it and place it behind my computer. and the best thing, it will be saved from my cats, they usually knock down anything that they find on their way. The light is bright and relaxing. I cannot tell you about the effect because is not being long since I am using it. It is expensive for me. I ordered it but I waited few days to complete the order, and they increase the price, but I need it, so I bought it. I get depressed during the winter, and I hope it help me, but I will update if that happen.

Good SAD light. Cheap power supply
Update: 2/19/2019
I am changing my review to 5 stars due to improvements in the latest version and the customer service.
I contacted Circadian Optics about the light going out by email. Big surprise to me. They contacted me within 12 hours to confirm mailing address. After confirmation, they sent me a shipping confirmation within another 12 hours! This is the single fastest turn around on a warranty request EVER!!
I had the original (V1) of this light. I received the 2nd version as a warranty replacement. So this is a review of the 2nd version as it compare’s to the original. After a few days use, I can said that it is an improvement. The light physically looks alike, but there are improvements.
1. The issue I have with the base not being stable seems to have been resolved with this version. I don’t know how since they look physically the same. It just rocks less and doesn’t fall over as easily.
2. The light now starts from high to low. The original version go from low to high. For me, I prefer the High to low since I usually use high.
3. The power supply itself has changed.
– The old was 5V 3A (15 Watt). The new is 12V 1.5A (18 Watts). So DON’T use the new with the old.
– The old length of the cord was 3 ft. The new is 6 ft. Moving to 6 ft makes a huge different for those of us in the US since the electrical code for spacing between outlets are 12 ft. I am now able to put the light where I need it.
– The power supply appears to be almost twice the size of the original. I am hoping that this is a good sign that it is more robust.
I am now ready to order another for my daughter!!

Original Review:
I have a mild case of SAD during the winter. I was using a Philip’s blue SAD light for about a decade or more. Based on more recent research, the blue light can demage some people’s eyes and a full spectrum light is recommended for people w/ SAD. I chose this light because of the size and advertised as full spectrum with good reviews at the time.
After 1.25 year of use during cloudy days and in Winter (about 2-4 hours average per week), here is take.
Pro:
– Compact. I don’t move it around and only use it in my office. This is something initial need to bring around w/ me.
– Cost – More affordable than the Philips $100+ options.
– Will built – The light itself feels solid with simple control.
Con:
– Broken power supply after a year of use. Seems to be common based on other reviews. They appear to have an updated power supply for 2019. Also, light says 3 years warranty but web site says 2 years. I have sent them an email for warranty and will see what the response is. Hence the 3 stars and not 4.
– The base is small and can easily be knock over. I use some tape to hold it in place. It need to have something to stabilize it.

THIS WORKS! helps with sleep!
I use this every morning (I put it on IMPROVED MY SLEEP!! It is very bright and it is like having morning summer sunshine right in your house! I feel TIRED in the evening and my body is just ready to go to bed. I find myself falling asleep faster and I am dreaming more regularlyâto me this means I must be having for REM sleep? Anyhowâ I am sleeping better and falling asleep faster.
I had bought one also for my mom to help with her moods (seasonal effective disorder/ aka winter blues) and although she didn’t think it helped her moodâ my Dad said IT DID!! LOL
( it is very slim and unobtrusive, but itâs slimness also makes it fall over easily which is only reason why I gave it a 4 for portability)

great for dark mornings
This is small enough to be portable but bright enough to do the job. I use it daily in those dark and dreary winter months!

Sturdy and stylish for a light therapy lamp
I live in the Pacific Northwest and have experienced low energy during the winter months for years. Iâm now in my mid 40âs and noticed a dip in both mood and energy levels already this year and itâs not even officially winter. I began the hunt for a lamp to help with my circadian rhythm that would not cost too much. After much research and reading of many, many reviews, I decided to get this Light Therapy lamp because of its relatively small size, unique design and lower price point. My initial review follows and I plan to update after a few weeks of use. (FYI – See Updates Below)
I wanted a light therapy lamp but I didnât want a chunky light box sitting on my table, especially when not in use, so I really like the slim design of this light. It is also a lot smaller than the typical, bigger light boxes so I appreciate the smaller footprint. I like that the lamp will swivel to get the light stream just right depending on how close Iâm sitting, and the ability to choose from three output settings is a nice since I wonât always want/need the high settings when using later in the day. The light also looks sleek when closed, which is a bonus.
Even though the lamp is smaller than others in this price range (under $75), I found it to be quite sturdy. I was worried it might look or feel âcheapâ but it is actually well built and, dare I say, stylish? Overall I am satisfied with this purchase and hope to see the benefits of using it over the next few weeks.
â¢â¢â¢11/2/17 UPDATEâ¢â¢â¢
I still love this lamp after a week and a half of use, however I thought I would mention that the lamp is tall and thin and tends to be top heavy if you have the arm with the lamp extended. The product description mentions the lamp being configurable and adjustable to a variety of positions and, though this is true, the lamp is the most sturdy when the light is set up so that the “arm” piece is vertical and close to the body of the lamp. I had this on my night stand and used it to wake up in the mornings but I had problems with the lamp tipping over with the slightest touch do to being top heavy with the arm more extended – which was my preferred set up for early mornings. I still love the lamp but am trying to get used to using it like the picture in the product description, which can be very bright depending on where you are using the lamp. I did not deduct a star as this lamp was still reasonably priced and much more stylish and compact than other light therapy lamps. So this update is more of an FYI for folks who are considering this lamp.
FYI – Some reviews and info in the product Q&A mentioned usb charging and/or the ability to use this lamp unplugged via its built in battery. The lamp I received (10/2017) has a normal ac adapter and not a usb cord. It also does not appear to work when unplugged and/or include a battery for use when unplugged. I donât know where the confusion comes from but I wanted to at least mention this in case someone was expecting to use the lamp wirelessly.
Lastly, The brief manual thatâs included provides basic instructions, usage info, specifications and a few FAQs. There isnât a ton of info but itâs enough to get you started.

Not returnable item whereas the roductnpage clearly mentions 10days returnable.
It’s a waste for me now.
Product description doesn’t mention about the side effects mentioned in the manual.
