IS A PULSE OXIMETER FOR YOU?

While a Pulse Oximeter is not intended for medical use, it is the simplest and most convenient way to detect and monitor vital signs before and after any strenuous activity such as a workout at home or in the gym — or sports such as running, cycling, basketball or tennis. People who work in aviation or travelers who fly frequently need an oximeter to know if their oxygen level is dropping or normal.

It is crucial to use the device in a stationary position and not while in motion for precise readings.
LOW POWER CONSUMPTION: Equipped with two AAA batteries, the oximeter automatically powers off when not in use and delivers up to 20 continuous hours of battery life.
PORTABLE AND LIGHTWEIGHT: Weighing only 50 grams, every AccuMed oximeter comes in a convenient travel case that protects it from scratches when carried on its own or inside your gym bag or backpack. Attach the included lanyard to the case or directly to the oximeter for easy reach anytime.
ROTATING, CRYSTAL CLEAR LED DISPLAY: Read your oxygen saturation level and pulse rate results with remarkable clarity in portrait or landscape formats with auto rotation that detects your hand movement in the CMS50D1 models.
DESIGNED FOR HOME USE, EXERCISE OR TRAVEL: While the AccuMed Fingertip Pulse Oximeter is handy for detecting vital signs, it is not intended for medical use but rather for situations where you need to know your oxygen level before and after your workout or sports such as running, hiking or cycling, or while traveling in an aircraft.

Customers say

Customers find the pulse oximeter easy to use and read, working right out of the box and providing quick results. They appreciate its value for money and its ability to check oxygen levels, with one customer noting it’s as accurate as higher-priced brands. The build quality and battery life receive mixed feedback – while some find it well-made, others report it breaking after a month, and while it comes with batteries, some mention the battery cover coming off. Accuracy is also mixed, with some finding it accurate while others disagree.

UPDATED: Still going strong 2.5 yrs later! …
UPDATE: Still using this several times a day, and it’s still going strong after over 2.5 years of use. I’ve owned several different pulse/ox devices over the years and I can say that this one is the best of the bunch. I actually came back to Amazon tonight to order a second one so that i’ll have a backup, especially since I’m doing a lot of travel these days, mostly long cruises of at least 21 days. It uses AAA batteries which are easy to find almost everywhere. And it’s not a battery ”hog” — the first set if batteries lasted about 18 months of daily use, checking my numbers 2 or 3 times a day. AND it’s staying accurate. I’ve taken it to my doctor’s office twice a year to compare with my doctor’s pulse/ox and it’s almost always exactly the same or at most 1-2 points lower than my doc’s.It’s still a 5-star item.Original review:This is a newer version of an AccuMed Pulse Oximeter I’ve been using for several years. It’s accurate, easy to set up and use (just put in the batteries), and the lanyard and case make it easy to take along when I exercise or travel. I have severe emphysema, prone to CO2 retention, so it helps to keep tabs on O2 levels when I’m doing anything strenuous so I can take pre-emptive action (specific breathing techniques) before I run into trouble. There are a number of small oximeters on the market and they all operate on similar technology, so it comes down to the quality of the materials used and how it’s put together. Some are really junk — accuracy is whacky, the spring clip gives out, etc. This one is very good quality and built to last. I’ve been using it for several weeks, usually 2-3 times a day — more if it’s a heavy exercise day — and I’ve seen no issues at all. This one’s a keeper — solid 5-stars for accuracy and quality.

    Nice Small Oximeter/PR meter
This is a well made small Oximeter/Pulse Rate meter which uses an easily read OLED display to show the two values plus a pulse rate timeline indicating relative heart beat activity. Though not intended for medical use, the unit is quite handy to see if a person is in the ballpark for blood oxygen saturation and pulse rate. I had no calibration reference to compare so did not rate its accuracy but for me it seemed accurate with my historical levels of oxygen (pulse rate was very accurate). The unit has one button to turn it on and it automatically turns off a short time after finger removal. It takes 2 AAA batteries (supplied but not in the unit on arrival), and is provided with a nice storage bag and lanyard. The instructions are very thorough and in plain English. Overall, a well made and documented little meter.

    Good features and accurate
I needed an additional Oxometer. Couldn’t find one the same brand, as original I have. This one had the same features. So far it is accurate, and I’m happy with my purchase.

Automatic read out facing you, no adjusti
I wore it my doctor’s office, and check it the same time the nurse did and it was right on point. I like that no matter how you hold it the numbers pop up facing you, you don’t have to turn your hand. I went out and bought another one for my husband as he uses mine all the time. I definitely recommend this.
