Perfect Converging Chest Press Machine for Your Home gym
I already have a good Smith Machine in my home gym, but I find that incline bench presses on the Smith hurt my shoulders (I do perform decline bench presses on the Smith without issues). I purchased this chest press machine from GMWD hoping to continue to build my upper/mid pectorals without injuring my shoulders in the process.Delivery: The machine arrived in perfect shape and I had no issues. It came right to my garage door. The shipping box was robust (heavy cardboard) and well sealed (strapping and heavy-duty tape)- no notable tears or holes.Unpacking: The machine inside of the box was thoughtfully packaged and took mere minutes to unpack and carry to my gym location. No parts were damaged in transit.Assembly: This machine was exceedingly easy to assemble with just a few tools and took me less than one hour in total to assemble (probably closer to 45 minutes). There were no problems – instructions were straightforward.Floorspace: The compact design of the GMWD Chest Press Machine takes up minimal valuable real estate in my home gym. I absolutely love that the full-length padded bench folds up off of the floor when not in use! This feature makes such a huge difference in reducing the machine’s footprint – awesome!Quality and Construction: The chest press machine is attractively finished, looks great, and is rigid and sturdy. I am about 6 feet tall and 230lbs; I feel 100% secure while on this machine. There is no wobbling or creaking – solidly built.Using the GMWD Chest Press Machine: The machine is easy to load with weights. Getting under the lift handles is a breeze as they are supported by adjustable arms. The upward converging arc of the lifting arms is smooth and feels natural; I have not experienced any shoulder pain while performing chest presses! I love that I can exhaustively work my pecs without a spotter or any concern that I may aggravate my rotator cuffs. I feel significantly more taxing of my pectorals when performing converging chest presses using this machine versus bar bench presses. I am expecting great results in the coming months!Further, I like the plate storage spindles at the rear of the machine so I can park my weights locally after I finish my chest workout. I look forward to using this machine on chest day!Customer Service: I had a small issue with one of the parts being drilled incorrectly. I messaged GMWD here on Amazon and they promptly got back to me. They went out of their way to replace the part swiftly. They were kind and professional. I received the replacement part, and my chest press machine is now perfect!Value: This machine is a bargain at the current price. It amazes me that I can get a piece of equipment on this level at this price in 2024!!I highly recommend GMWD and this chest press machine.

Measurements
I’ve had it set up for about a week now and it works great. I had it put together with in an hour by myself. Ty. One thing they don’t mention or show you a picture of is the width of the actual machine. It’s 52 inches.I have a pic to show you. And I know that matters if it’s going up against a wall or in a corner somewhere because they give you the distance of the base itself but not how much more it sticks out when you put weights on it.Anyway, if you’re thinking about buying it, it’s a good buy. Does everything it says it does and I definitely feel like I’m working out in a gym with this piece of equipment. Select any weight you want with the weights you’ll have to buy and have a great little workout.I would buy it again. Feels sturdy, it’s what I would expect when putting something like this that can hold a lot of weight. Very smooth on the ball bearings that make the arms go up and down adjustable arms so it’s less stressful on your shoulders rather than more of your chest. So the starting point doesn’t have to be all the way down. Like you’re benching in a gym. You could put it up quite some and just give it a lift and it’s not much stress on certain parts.

Great machine for the price
I’m 6 ft 1 and 250+ lbs and lift very heavy weights, this enables me to have a machine I typically use at commercial gyms at home. Haven’t figured out how to really row or OHP properly yet but with how adjustable it is I’m sure pressing will work. It took me a few hours to build and was relatively easy to do. I lifted on it yesterday and it felt great on bench and incline bench, I personally love the converging feeling. It loses a bit of stability when it’s in incline mode but perhaps that’s because of my weight and the fact that I hand tightened everything, but overall it’s an incredibly solid machine with no wobble. Only thing I’m knocking it for is that the adapters for normal plates don’t screw on, or I was missing the screws (no spot in hardware for them) so I just taped them onto the machine. Again, for the price this is comparable to $800+ machines like the powertec multipress. Combine this with barbells and dumbbells at home and you’ll never need anything else for strength training or bodybuilding purposes.

Great workout equipment
I already have a weight bench set but couldn’t use it like I wanted due to me have a slip disc from a car accident years ago. Always having the fear of dropping the weights onto myself just incase my disc slipped. With this machine I am able to get the same workout without the bar. I’m starting off light to get myself back into exercises and it really makes a difference. The machine didn’t take long to setup and takes up less space than the traditional bench. My 5 year old was coaching me and she wanted to try it with 2.5 pounds on it and she enjoyed it. She only did 1 set of 10. With that to say that’s how easy it is to use. We’ll worth the money.

Solid!
Not much to say except that this is an exceptional piece of equipment for the price point! Extremely pleased with the build quality and functionality! Highly recommend for any home gym!

Not Too Bad, Butâ¦
First the positives. The machine is built solidly so it should last a while. It wasn’t too difficult to put together but I felt the instructions could’ve been more more explanatory but I managed. The arms glide smoothly and the trajectory really targets the chest and the triceps. Now the negatives. The bench sits very low and when you incline the bench it gets even lower and my head extends over the bench as others have mentioned. When you turn to do shoulder raises the arms actually touch. The vinyl covering the bench is cheap and loose so it may tear in the near future.Overall I think it’s a pretty solid piece of equipment but it definitely needs some improvements.

Great customer service! Easy to assemble! Works great…I have no issues with it! Awesome addition to my gym!

This machine is very simple and feels sturdy and robust. No squeaking, cracking or scratching noises. The two arms are sturdy and if you tighten the screws properly, you won’t get any “loose” or sideways moving of the arms (as other reviews pointed out). I do suggest using power tools to assemble this product. The machine when folded takes very little space, once again not to sure why people complain about that…. as long as you don’t expect a 6000$ value out of it, this machine will satisfy you 100% for the price. Finally, i didn’t find any noticeable difference between this machine and the chest press that you would find in a commercial gym. Works as good as any “hammer strength” machine for less money.

This is a good weight bench. Its is a leverage-style machine that allows for flat bench press or incline bench press. The arms are converging, which means they arc towards each other as you press the weights up. This allows for a natural feeling motion that really targets the pecs. I can really feel the âsqueezeâ during movements, and the design and function of this machine eliminates my shoulder pain completely and allows me to work my chest without pain and discomfort. I have bursitis in both of my shoulders and I have far too much pain when attempting barbell or dumbbell pressing movements. If you have shoulder issues or you are coming off an injury, this is a great way to strengthen your upper body without aggravating your shoulders. The machine is very well made with thick metal parts and a very sturdy design. It is heavy enough on its own after assembly that it stays in place even during heavy weight loads. Assembly took me about 30 minutes on my own and was pretty straightforward. The instructions werenât always the most clear, but I was able to figure it out quickly enough. I feel extremely safe when using this machine. It is solid with a perfectly smooth movement, no shakes or wobbles and everything is sturdy and heavy duty. The bench itself has an adequate amount of thick padding that feels supporting and firm. It is wide enough to accommodate larger individuals and the overall weight load of the bench can support over 400 lbs. Each converging arm can hold up to 200 lbs., which is plenty for most people, unless you are a powerlifter. There are only a few minor gripes I had with this product:- The material on the bench was torn on the underside, which leads me to believe that it could come apart after some time and use.- There are several scratches on different metal pieces that are rusty, likely from shipping or packaging.- The converging arms have a bit of a wobble to them which is barely noticeable during use, but it is there. When the bench is set to incline, the bottom of the bench rests on the floor, which makes the bench sit very low. It is fine if you are 5â10â and under, but anything over that, and your head will definitely hang off the bench. Your feet are also not perfectly stable during heavy incline lifts.- It is impossible to get any sort of successful shoulder press exercise with this due to the converging arms. You could theoretically work one shoulder at a time, but the pressing motion is more of viking type of press vs an overhead press.- Rows are possible, but again, the converging arms make them curve slightly inward which makes for a slightly awkward back exercise feel.- It is very clear that this machine is strictly meant for flat and incline press only, with any other exercises being awkward. There are options if you can use your imagination and if your body type and height supports them, but this not an âall in oneâ type of workout product. All in all, I appreciate the design, build quality, heft and function of this, and for the purchase price, this is a great piece of at-home gym equipment that can mimic similar leverage machines found at a commercial gym. Well worth the purchase, if you add some other accessor

Putting it together took a good 45-1hr with a drill(quicker) it looks great and is very sturdy, built well and a good size a bit of a tight fit for a bigger guy but still good. The only thing I have issue with is a couple of spots have plastic coverings, had to worn the guys not to be rough putting weights off and on, but overall this machine moves very smooth and easy to transition from one move to another. Good value for your money, great overall performance from this machine.
