Customers say
Customers find the fire starter works well, is easy to use, and offers good value for money. Moreover, the compass points north effectively, and customers consider it essential for emergency packs. However, the spark quality and durability receive mixed feedback – while some say it sparks well, others report it doesn’t produce as much as advertised, and while some find it well-made, others report it breaking during use. The size is also mixed, with customers appreciating that it fits in the palm of their hand but noting it’s super small.

Works perfect
Whistle, compass and ferro rod. Small pocket sized but throws great sparks and easy to light a fire.

Works as a Firestarter
I always test out products prior to hitting the trail. Because of that, I was happy to find this two pack for a decent price. The deciding factor was the quantity, the built in whistle and the additional fire starter rope. The fire starter works like a typical ferro rod fire starter. The plastic is a little flimsy, but I was able to use it without issue.Neither of the whistles worked. For many this will not be an issue. However, seeing it is an advertised feature, I felt the need to note this.

Tiny but Mighty ð¥ð¥ð¥
We had fun playing with this! Save your dryer lint, it blazes up right away with this ferro rod! (Also can repurpose candles/wax meltsâif you add a few crumbles of wax your lint will burn for a few minutes rather than just 30 seconds.)Optimally youâd have all the right tinder & kindling you need, but no harm in making it easier to start a fire! I put a bag of dryer lint & wax pieces along with this ferro rod in our emergency preparedness supplies. The whistle works well. The compass points north. I went ahead and took the thinner string off and tied it with the para-cord it came with, as itâs sturdy and bright. I might tie a longer piece around the 2nd one so it can be worn around the neck when hiking.I plan on buying another 2 pack. Great for the camper, cars, etcâ¦and just fun to play with!(PS, aerosol mosquito spray also blazed right up, but I decided not to share the video.ð)

Works great
Works great for my hiking pack. Very small, compact but love the orange color, makes it easy to find. Works great. I wanted a back up to have if my lighter get wet. If this gets wet, wipe it off and after a few strokes it will spark right back up! If you do not however, know how to start a primitive fire, it may pose difficult for you but otherwise, works like a champ!

VERY SMALL
These are VERY tiny – if they were a little longer, I feel like they would be easier to use. They definitely work and I’ve built quite a few fires with them, but a little bigger would be better.

It will get the job done but…
I liked the fact that this came with two. I bought it because my fiancé and I are working on self-sustainability and having one for him and one for me for starters is nice. I liked that there were whistles, and compasses. We tested the compass on them and both of them are accurate. It’s easy to get them to spark, but you need some BIG sparks to make a fire with them. My fiancé was able to get huge sparks and make small burn marks in the newspaper, and tinder, but it wouldn’t go up. I went and got a paper towel, ripped it up and it he was able to strike it three times and it went up in flames. We were able to boil water over it and everything. We did this is still, normal conditions just as beginners. I wish this came with way more paracord, and I wish that these were a little bigger because the size of the flint determines the size of the sparks that are expelled. It would be hard for a kid to light, even a woman. If there is paper towel and very still weather involved, one besides a man might be able to light it.. I’m going to keep it as a backup. You always want to make sure you have 7 different ways to start fire, so I’m going to get a bigger one to get bigger sparks. This is not a bad product. It’s good for beginners but it does work out the hands quite a bit, even for my fianvce and he’s a marine.

So easy to use
This is super easy to use self-explanatory and small enough. You can just throw it in a little zipper on your camping bag and youâre good to go. I absolutely love the easiness with using this. I make sure that this is in my camping bag along with my husbands camping bag every time we go out, hiking camping etc. Definitely worth the money great quality, super easy to use. Consider this one of those must haves in my camping bag because you can always rely on a lighter.

Almost didn’t order because of the negative comments. Some people just can’t be pleased. These are perfect strikers and work very well and easy to use. They are not too small! They are just the right size to fit into my tin of magnesium. The paracord is just an extra. Highly recommend these strikers for your camping or survival gear.

It is a little short but works ok

Kinda small so not a lifetime supply of fire, but it gives off more sparks than any ferro rod I’ve had. Likely best to not rely on the whistle. Seller quickly fixed a minor issue for me. 5 stars for service and the ferro compound used in these.

The ferrel rod and compasses (although cheap) work well. The whistle on one works when you blow really really hard, and there is a piece missing from the other so the whistle doesn’t work at all.

Unfortunately, one of the 2 items was defective. One item works well but the other is not working properly. So this review is a mixed response.* As an add on comment, the AOFAR team immediately resolved an issue with the product and demonstrated exceptional customer service. The replacement product works perfectly. Compliments to the AOFAR team for post-delivery support and responsiveness. The products are great value at a competitive price.
