A great option for those looking for portable comfort on the go!
This self-inflating camping pillow is a great travel essential for added comfort while hiking, backpacking, or flying. The memory foam layer provides nice support for the neck or lower back, and the ergonomic design helps with proper alignment. It’s lightweight and compact, making it easy to pack, and the self-inflating feature works well for quick setup.

Alright, but not great enough to justify the weight
It’s a little narrower, but longer than what my inflatable insulated mat rolls up to and weigh nearly half of what that mat weighs. My scale says 249g (8.78oz) for the pillow and the band (4g of the weight) that comes with it to hold it rolled up. The bag adds another 14g, but isn’t needed. I won’t be taking it backpacking. It is much more convenient than a conventional pillow for camping. It puffs up on its own and if you want some cradling by the memory foam, not just the air, that’s enough in it. The button to let a little air out to adjust the firmness is hard to press because it’s stuck up against the foam. To get it to work, I have to hold the valve away from the foam while I press it. The valve holds air as it should and opening the lower layer lets it all out while rolling. These double layer valves always feel hard to open that lower layer. Rolling to put it away is easy enough even with the resistance provided by the foam.Comfort? Well, it’s a little low for side sleeping. I turned it to the high side and it is still ever so slightly low. Almost there. While it is contoured in one direction, the other is distinctly flat. There’s not much crinkle noise from the fabric when rolling around, but a fair bit when lifting the head a little. The top fabric is soft and comfortable to lie against. There’s nothing to secure it from slipping around.

    Mouth Inflatable Camping Pillow
I’ve slept for decades on memory foam ergonomic contour pillows. I now cannot get a good night’s sleep without one. Regular pillows are most always too soft and don’t provide sufficient support, so I pack my every-night pillow most everywhere I travel; hotels, couch surfing, and camping. Many times my pillow takes up more space than the clothes and essentials I take, especially so when backpacking. Thus, I was excited when I saw this ergonomic contour camping pillow that packs into a small bag.Upon unboxing, I opened the “self-inflating” valve, and nothing happened. I let it set for 10 minutes, and still nothing. So, I fully opened the valve closure to deflate mode, and the internal foam did expand, a little. After 10 more minutes, I reinserted the self-inflating part of the valve and waited a few more minutes. Nothing. I then tried to inflate the pillow by mouth, and found that I had to pucker just right; it ain’t easy. Finally, I got it inflated. Minus three stars for not self-inflating.After huffing and puffing, all I could muster, I measured the pillow. Yep, the dimensions are close to the same as given in the listing. However, when I laid down and put my head on the pillow it was way too hard; like an over-inflated air mattress, not soft at all; what happened to the memory foam?. I decided to let some air out, and that ain’t easy either, as the valve’s deflate mode is all or nothing. I ended up needing to huff and puff some more. This pillow has a learning curve. It could be a challenge if you’re flying.Eventually, I got it inflated to where it is comfortable for me, and the height decreased by about 1 inch. Even so, I felt I could sleep with it. Indeed, I took a short nap. So, it’s a compromise for me: pack my every-night, bulky pillow, or take this one that’ll do. Plus one star for it being sleep-able, at least for me.Finally, I deflated the pillow, rolled it up, and it does fit nicely back into the included travel/storage sack. But, just to make sure that it doesn’t self-inflate, I took it out of the sack once more, unrolled it, and opened the valve. It’s been sitting now for 15 minutes, and nothing. This pillow requires blowing to inflate. All pictures are of it after I adjusted inflation to be comfortable for me.

    Comfortable and versatile
I got this for a few different purposes. First, of course, is to have it available to bring with us on camping trips. It takes up relatively little space in our camping gear and can be inflated and inserted into a pillowcase to add to our sleeping mats. Second, I think this will be a great little pillow to use in our hammock. It’s sturdy and waterproof and comfy enough for a nice nap. Third, this will make sunbathing on the beach a lot more comfortable. And forth, we can use this as a little extra lumbar support on those uncomfortable plane seats.I love that this pillow has a memory foam interior to provide that soft squishiness. From there, I can inflate it as little or as much as I want to make it just the right softness or firmness for my comfort level. The valve can be a little tricky, but I got it to work ok. I appreciate the ergonomic design of the shape for the head and neck. The fabric has a soft feel to the touch and the material also seems to be quite durable. I wish it had some non-slip texture on the back side, though.

    Easy packing and unpacking
The so called self-inflating is exaggerating. I had to open the package and let it sit for a few days and use air pump to bring to full. After first time it’s easy to pack and unpack.I like the style and feel of the material. Good camping pillow for keeping in my roof top tent.
