A unique collection of life lessons from renowned chef and humanitarian José Andrés
José Andrés is a chef, an entrepreneur, an author, a television host, and a tireless humanitarian leader across the globe. A Michelin-starred chef with more than forty restaurants, José is also the founder of World Central Kitchen, a nonprofit dedicated to feeding the hungry in the wake of natural and man-made disasters. His lifetime of experience—from kitchens to conflict zones—has given him a wealth of stories and teachable moments that are funny, touching, and insightful, all animated by the belief that food can bring us closer together and the conviction that each of us can change the world for the better.
Written in José’s unmistakable voice, Change the Recipe is a collection of his most affecting and powerful life lessons: hard-won wisdom from a man who has dedicated his life to changing the world through the power of food.

A Perfect Gift for Graduation or Any Event
Longtime fan of Chef Jose Andres, I couldn’t wait to receive my copy of the book as soon as it was available and I have not been able to put it down. It provides us with the story of Chef Andres’ fascinating life as it has never been told before. In that respect alone, the book is compelling reading. I loved learning about his childhood, the way his parents taught him to cook, the many chefs he worked for, and how he dealt with challenges as he explored new opportunities. The wisdom he shares with us isn’t preachy or lofty. It’s like talking to him while sharing a meal. Just so honest and generous and encouraging. I will purchase many more copies to give as gifts. A big “thank you!” to Chef Andres for all that he does for humanity, and for sharing his life and wisdom with us.

Meh
I was really hoping for some insight into the conception of his feeding of Haitian homeless after the earthquake, but the first 40 pages were his memories of foods from his childhood. I understand the significance of what made him a chef, but for such a slim volume, you would have expected less rambling train of thought.
