Great product and easy to set up!
Perfect solution for what I needed it for! My son’s new bedroom in our home does not have a thermostat and tends to run at a different temp than the rest of our bedrooms because it gets more sunlight. I needed a way to remotely monitor the temp in there and our baby cam was great but the temp feature stopped working after a few years. I just placed this little monitor on his bureau and now I can check the temp from my phone any time! Great product. Easy to set up too.

Really nice Hydro / thermometer for humid environments
This one is still working properly and I do feel like it has hit or miss. I have three others two of which that are not working properly that I need to return directly to Govee after buying this item I purchased a three pack directly from Govee. we’ll see how that works out

    Critical Failure (but fixed)
Update to original review below:Govee Technical Support says that it found the problem described below and pushed an update to all affected devices on August 21, 2021. Indeed, all four of my Govee devices are now functioning perfectly well. And the best part of it is that I had to do nothing… the problem just “corrected itself”.I changed my rating from 1 star to 5 stars since the basic unit functionality is really very good. I am assuming that Govee did indeed really fix this issue and that in the future the units will not appear to have lost Wifi connectivity when they actually have not lost it.Thank you, Govee!Original Review:I have four of these Govee units running into two widely separated physical location. Each location uses Nest (by Google) WiFi routers. When it works, the Govee app reports the appropriate temperature and humidity data. However, sporadically, the Govee units report that they have lost WiFi connectability and stop reporting all data. At that point, if the Govee unit is local to you, you can use the app to correct this situation. However, if the Govee unit is not accessible from your location, it is useless until it can be accessed via Bluetooth from the app. All four of my units have gotten to this state, so it is not a particular physical device that has the problem.I used the words “the Govee units report that they have lost WiFi connectability” intentionally, because I believe that they actually have NOT lost WiFi communications ability. I think that there is a software bug that is leading to them reporting that, and to stop displaying data, even though it is not true. The Nest WiFi system monitors usage of all devices. It maintains data on devices (such as phones) even after they have completely physically disconnected. If the same device subsequently logs onto the Nest WiFi system, the statistics go into the same bucket. The Govee device is very clever and (presumably to save battery) completely disconnects from WiFi when it is not reporting data. However, each device seems to have a unique ID beginning with “ESP” and thus its WiFi usage can be tracked by the Nest WiFi system despite its complete disconnection from WiFi..Much to my surprise, all of my Govee devices that are marked in the Govee app as not having WiFi connectability, regularly connect and upload and download data (presumably to a Govee server). Furthermore, their upload and download byte counts are approximately the same when the Govee app shows them as connectable to WiFi and when it shows as not connectable to WiFi.This would seem to indicate that the Govee device sometimes CAN connect to WiFi even when the Govee app shows that it cannot. It would seem that some event occurs to make the Govee app flag the device as not-connectable and not report data even though the device is actually connecting and apparently reporting data to the Govee servers.Govee support seems to be really good if you are having routine setup issues. They are patient and walk you through what you need to do. However, in this case, they suggested that I have “someone” that was local to the Govee device download the Govee app, connect via Bluetooth, and reset the WiFi connection. This is obviously not a viable solution for remote monitoring.Since the Govee units go to this state regularly (it seems to take about three or four weeks), it makes them effectively unusable for long-term monitoring.Which, I think, is a pity, since the unit itself really works and makes a lot of “sense” for remote monitoring.I have entertained the idea that there is something nefarious going on here, since these devices are placed in people’s property, and connect on a regular basis to the Govee server. But it seems to me that is really a software bug.

it *must* be calibrated. lag may preclude use as a fan control depending temp swing
It was very off, out of the box, but there is a calibration setting in the app. I was able to calibrate it but was at the max limit for temperature adjustment, so check your unit before the return window closes, in case the error is not correctable.Calibration is easy, just let it sit for a while in a place where you know the temperature. In the app, there are +/- buttons you click until the app and known temps match. Plan to do this when you do the initial setup.Be aware it takes a while to adjust to large swings in temperature. I have it in the attic, when it gets too hot, I can turn on an attic fan. However the thermometer will only change a limited number of degrees/minute, so the temperature reading lags. Even after I turn off the attic fan, the temperature reading continues to drop. I have seen it take almost an hour to read the correct temperature after 40F change. It’s useful as a trigger, then have fan run for preset number of minutes instead.Setup with the app was quick and easy. The app shows not only the current temp/humidity, but there’s a log for historical data, which is very nice and a feature I was seeking. You can also set up an alert for when the measurement goes out of a user-defined range. However, I was unable to change the alert level after installation, so i had to delete the item from the app and install it all over again, which is a pain. The calibration widgets also don’t show up after initial installation, so get it right the first time. These are not settings one would normally change often, so the bug is low impact. So overall, the software is good, but not great.I am happy with the purchase and if your needs match up to its advertised capabilities, then I would recommend it. They also offer a cheaper bluetooth only version. I didn’t ding it a star for the lag since an attic has much wilder swings than perhaps is usual.

    Good backup!
I got three of these (1 for each freezer) upon the recommendation from my son. I wish I had them two months previously when one freezer door didn’t get shut all the way and warmed up a bit. They took a bit of care to set up but weren’t difficult.

    Great thermometer
I purchased this to use in my walk in cooler at my business and haven’t had any issues so far. Connection has never dropped and the product seems durable enough to last for quite a while. App to view humidity and temperature is easy to use and understand. I’d definitely recommend it for anyone in the market for a wifi thermometer!

    Needed at Church
We have a church in PA and if the furnace fails no one is there to tell and then you run the risks of frozen pipes. This is very accurate and sends a warning to your phone if it falls outside your preset parameters. It’s great to know that all is well when you can’t be there. I gave it four stars because it was really hard to set up….in fact I gave up but then it connected and started to work. It performs flawlessly these past 4 months even when the power was out it came back online without having to fuss with it. Govee is known to be difficult to set up and I’m now trying to do a water detection device from them and no luck so far but I’ll do some more research.

Easy to set up the app. I set it up so that I get notifications when my temperature is over a certain limit. I live in a humid country where I need to monitor my home’s humidity when I’m away for a while (I turn on the AC remotely) to avoid mold. Quite happy with this device.

I got these about six months ago. Set up was a breeze, they connected to Alexa easily through the Govee app. I placed them around my apartment and that was it. For months I’ve been able to ask Alexa the temperature in particular rooms and these work like a charm. They also connect to my Govee smart fan, so that the fan can be set to turn on and off depending on the temperature of the room, and this is also easy to set up and worked seamlessly for me. I love these little devices, you can hide them anywhere, and when the AAA batteries finally quit, I can just recharge them. I haven’t used any of the tracking features.
