Lightweight and compact with a perfect amount of water
I recently bought a AQUASIV Gravity Water Filter Kit for a weekend backpacking excursion, and I must say, it exceeded my expectations. The filtration process was flawless, resulting in water that tasted as crisp and refreshing as a mountain spring. Impressively, a single fill of the system provided enough water for both myself and a companion to enjoy our morning coffee, with plenty left over for a second cup. It truly enhanced our outdoor experience, ensuring we stayed hydrated and energized throughout our adventure.

Great water filter. I bring this with me whenever i go camping
I recently purchased the Gravity Bag Water Filter and have been thoroughly impressed with its performance. This portable filtration system is a true backcountry game-changer, offering unparalleled ease of use and reliable clean water access. Its high-capacity bag filters water at an impressive rate, ensuring that I have plenty of purified water for drinking and cooking while on the trail. The water tastes crisp and clean, with no chemical aftertaste—a testament to the filter’s efficacy. Lightweight yet durable, it’s become an essential piece of my hiking gear. The Gravity Bag has exceeded my expectations, and I would highly recommend it to any outdoor enthusiast looking for a dependable water purification solution.

Works as intended – thwarted Montezuma’s revenge
Easily packable and performs its function of filtering water extremely well and accurately. I recommend it for anyone who wants a water filter that doesn’t require a separate pump/hose. The added tool to screw the bottle onto another water bottle to refill is an excellent feature and highly, highly useful.Small negatives – the mouthpiece is poor quality. If you pull it open with any force it pops off entirely. You can slide it back on but its annoying to have to pay attention and be cautious with. The collapsible nature of the bottle/bag does make it a little more challenging to drink out of than a standard water bottle but that’s a small price to pay for clean water.

    Inclusive Kit
Seems like everything is there for water filtering needs. I purchased this to throw in our “camping box” just as a tertiary means of water filtering. Our primary for car camping to pack our own water, second would be Sawyer minis and a water bottle for short hikes or over nights. This should fit a group camping need when others do not have the right equipment or run out of water. Tested in backyard, seems to work well, but have not tested in open environment. I would purchase again.

    Great easy to use product.
I loved how easy it was to collect the lake water and how clean and good tasting it came out. Would highly recommend for those who do several days of backpacking or hiking long trails that have limited water but access to dirty water!

For basecamp, the AQUASI water filter will do a good job.
I hike a lot and I always filter my water when on the trail to help ensure I don’t get sick while miles away from my car and/or the nearest doctor. I have been using a gravity feed filter for many years and a pump filter before that. I wanted to see how the AQUASI would compare in weight, convenience, and portability. Some data: The filter comes in a tidy box and includes a multitude of accessories so that it can meet almost any situation including personal squeeze filtration, gravity filtration for small groups, and faucet filtration for larger groups. It even comes with a drill bit to adapt it for use with a plastic bucket. It has a two liter dirty bag for gravity feed and a one liter squeeze dirty bag for quick, personal use. It has both a carbon filter to improve taste and odor and a hollow fibre filter for micro-organisms above 0.1 microns. The carbon and hollow fibre filters can be used in conjunction with each other or separately. Although I wasn’t able to test it, the manufacture claims it will eliminate 99.9999% of bacteria and protozoa, including cryptosporidium and giardia. At 0.1 microns filtration, it will not eliminate viruses, but viruses are not currently an issue within the US. Nevertheless, if you are outside the US in an area where the ground water may contain viruses, the company literature states they are developing a filter for that situation. How fast: I tried the unused filter out with household tap water to get an idea of how fast it will filter a liter of water. I first filled the inflow and outflow tubes and both filters with water so it was primed and ready to start filling the receptacle container. I then put two liters of water in the dirty bag and hung it on a cupboard with 64 inches separating the top of the water from the bottom of the outflow tube (the more the vertical distance between these two points, the faster the water will move through a filter). I found it took a full minute to filter only eight ounces of clean tap water. Doing the same thing without the carbon filter attached gave only a negligible improvement on rate of filtration. That is substantially slower than I expected and would be tedious on the trail for someone that has been hiking and in need of rehydration. Additionally, during the set-up process, two of the joints leaked and it was difficult to get them to stop.Weight: The bare bones filter set up for gravity feed including the two liter dirty bag, both the carbon and hollow fibre filters, the in and outflow tubes, a mesh carrying bag, and all necessary connections weighs 15.8 ounces. Without the carbon filter, which is unnecessary in most areas of the US, it weighed 13.3 ounces. That is not a lot, but compares to my current gravity feed filter, with all accessories but no carbon filter, it was about four ounces lighter (coming in at about 9.25 ounces). Of course the AQUASI is also about half the price and is much more versatile. The AQUASI is a good filter. It is versatile, light weight, and easy to pack. I found it to be a bit less easy to work with than other filters I have owned and used, but the trade-off is competitive pricing and multi-functionality. Without the charcoal filter, it is still not ultralight, but probably light enough. I will likely continue to use my current gravity feed on the trail because speed of filtration is important then, but for a basecamp or other uses where time is not as important, the AQUASI is plenty sufficient.
