OK light, but not great
I work from home and my “office” room is in the basement so natural light is pretty limited for me on a daily basis, and sometimes I can really feel it affecting me. Recently I read about mood therapy with daily doses of 10,000 lux lighting so I was excited to try this out. After putting it together and using it I have to say that this is a decent light, but for the 80 dollar price tag I expected better.Most importantly, the light itself works OK but it isn’t as intense as I expected at this price. As far as the claim of measuring at 10,000 lux, my light meter confirms that is true- but only up to * 6 inches * away from it. And then once you move further away the lux drops (4,000 lux at 12″; 2,500 lux at 18″; 1,000 lux at 24″). So if you truly want to follow the 10,000 lux daily “prescription” then you’ll probably want to look for something better unless you plan on sitting with the light right in your face.On a positive note, on its highest settings this light is still very bright so if all you want is a good task light or reading light then this will definitely do the job. Even on the highest settings there is no flicker or high pitch sound (which I’ve experienced with some LED lights) so that is good. It has 5 preset color temperatures to choose from, which is nice, but I wish there was more of a seamless transition (more like a slider or dial) so it could be fine tuned better.The lamp base is pretty heavy so even when using at the highest level the lamp is as sturdy as most other floor lamps. I also like the adjustability of the neck, just below the light. The bendy piece is 15″ long so that gives you room to bend it any way you’d like, and it is strong enough that once you bend it to where you want it, it stays in place.The most odd thing about this light is how its power cord plugs into it. If you look at the product photos you’ll see the piece with the control buttons (right below the bendable neck). This is where the power supply plugs in, and there is no way to feed the cord into the stand or attach it to the stand so the cord isn’t just dangling there. The stand is divided into 3 pieces that screw together and even to use it as a desk lamp you need to use at least one piece, so depending on what height you are using you either have 17″, 33″, or 49″ of unsightly cord dangling down to the floor.So overall this lamp isn’t bad, but at this price point I have to believe there are better options out there.

Nice lamp for seasonal affective disorder, and also for reading, living room, etc. Short power cord.
This is a nice remote-controlled standing lamp with a gooseneck that allows you to point it in any direction. The remote control allows you to adjuist it for a wide variety of settings both in terms of brightness and color temperature (warm vs. hard whites); it comes with a handful of preset settings that are a little quirky but fine. Unfortunately, I don’t think you can make a custom preset; but, it’s easy enough to dial it into your desired setting. You can choose from 9 levels of brightness and 4 color temperatures (so 36 combinations?). The remote works quite well–which is good because the buttons on the lamp only allow for on-off, cycling through manufacturer presets, and setting the timer.I think this lamp is suitable for use not just for seasonal affective disorder, but also as a general purpose lamp for the household. I have mine in my living room next to my desk; I think it would also make a great reading lamp.The biggest gripe I have is that the cord is way too short. You can use this as a desk lamp or as a standing lamp; if standing, you can choose how many segments of the pipe to put together. However, at its max height, the cord has very little length left over to reach the nearest plug. Also, the plug extends about an inch straight back from the lamp, which is a little ugly. They really should package this thing with a longer cord, and consider ways to either embed the cord in the body of the lamp or at least bring it physically closer to the lamp. (At least it’s behind the lamp.)

This is a Vine review on a product that I received in exchange for my honest evaluation of the product.Assembly is super easy as the cord is not contained in the shaft, and you can make the lamp any height that you want by only using the number of additional pole segments that you need.The base is solid with a good weight to it to keep the lamp stable but not so heavy you cannot lift and move the lamp.This is one of the best floor lamps I have ever purchased.It has a flex neck so that you can shine the light wherever you need it.It has several light color and intensity options so you can tailor it to what you need at the time.It can be used as a spotlight for photos or focused light for detailed hand work.The remote control allows you to adjust the light while it is behind you shining over your shoulder.My wife uses this lamp every day while knitting in preference to any other light source at her disposal.
