Customers say
Customers find the deodorant effective, working all day and being the most effective brand they’ve used. The product receives mixed feedback regarding its longevity, with some saying it lasts all day while others report it doesn’t last long. Skin reactions are also mixed, with some finding it gentle while others experienced burning and itching. Moreover, the deodorant’s drying properties and stain resistance receive mixed reviews – while some say it dries quickly and doesn’t leave stains, others report it stays wet for a few minutes and leaves substantial residue on clothes. Additionally, the smell and value for money also get mixed reactions, with some enjoying the scent and finding it worth the cost, while others note a slight off smell and consider it overpriced.

My search is over!
I decided to switch to natural deodorant to avoid aluminum and have spent a considerable amount of time and money trying different types and brands. I also have a sensitivity to smells and, as it turns out, baking soda. Here is what I have discovered:Lume (Unscented). By far the best, it absolutely keeps me stink-free and does not leave stains on my shirt. It also seems to keep me dry even though itâs not technically an antiperspirant. The skin in my pits is smooth, there is no body odor to be found, and Iâve stopped ruining my shirts. My husband uses it, too, after he developed a rash from his Gillette brand deodorant. For awhile he was only using Lume on one pit, and the pit without almost killed me. I use the stick form and it goes on like a gel but rubs in quickly. There are other forms that can be used on any part of your body. The only negatives are the price (about $14 although I think the stick will last a very long time because you donât have to use much), that it has to be purchased online, and there arenât any scents I can tolerate. I canât do earthy or flowery smells and hope Lume will start making a vanilla or citrus/fruity scent in the future. The unscented smells a little medicine-y, but similar to unscented lotion, and only if I intentionally sniff it. I also wish they made a deodorant shampoo because I swear my hair stinks after the gym and would like to prevent that, as I donât have time to wash and style my hair after working out. I hope Lume stays in business because this is my forever deodorant. When my son hits full-blown puberty, Iâll switch him to this deodorant, and have him use it on his feet, too. I’m not sure how this is considered a ânaturalâ deodorant since I can’t pronounce many of the ingredients, but it doesnât contain the ingredients that cause allergic reactions or the toxic aluminum that I’m trying to avoid.Schmidtâs (Bergamot Lime). The best scent ever, which is why I let my pre-teen use it still. I want to keep a supply of this around just to inhale it. This is also one of the cheapest options ($5) and available at box stores. You have to warm the deodorant in your pits to apply it. However, this gave me a huge rash and was only minimally effective.Nubian Heritage (Coconut Papaya). I used this deodorant and Schmidtâs the longest before I found Lume. The scent is mellow and sweet, and the deodorant goes on clear and smooth. It worked decently well, but not reliably. I still smelled bad by the end of the day and after many months of use, my pits were starting to get inflamed. I originally bought this for around $5-8 at Walmart and again on Amazon.Native (Coconut Vanilla). The scent is light and sweet, and the deodorant goes on smoothly, but the rash was unbearable. It is also a creamy deodorant and left residue in my shirts. One day when using Native I was picking my son up from school and raised my arm and the smell almost killed me. This is not effective and certainly not worth a red, itchy, angry rash that caused my armpit skin to fall off in chunks and feel like leather. I am amazed that Native is now available at box stores and that they get $12 for the stuff. It is murder on my pits.Stinkbug Naturals (Vanilla Mint). This was another one that was relatively cheap (like $8) from Walmart. It smelled like mint chocolate chip ice cream which clashed with my lemon body lotion. I canât say how well it worked because it went on like a greasy paste that I had to scrub off with a gallon of soap and a washcloth, and I decided that was not worth it. I was like melting a bacon-grease candle in my pits.Arm & Hammer Essentials (Unscented). This is the cheapest of them all (I think I paid $2.50) and available at box stores. It goes on clear and while unscented, it still has an almost citrusy, soapy smell. It contains baking soda so I expected a rash, though I canât say this caused one. However, it was only somewhat effective.Jason (Calming Lavender). This is another inexpensive option (about $5-7) available at box stores. Lavender is one of the few flowery scents I can tolerate, but I felt like this scent made me smell a little too much like new age hippie. It goes on clear and doesnât stain clothing but is only slightly more effective than using nothing.Tomâs (Fresh Apricot). I bought this at the store for about $5 to use after showering at the gym basically in place of perfume because Iâm too cheap to buy more Lume for on-the-go (that will soon change.) It goes on clear and the scent is pleasing but with a light, soapy after-smell. Like the Jason brand, this deodorant does almost nothing. This deodorant also caused my pits to glow pink-red after each use. It doesnât contain baking soda, but itâs possible that I react to corn starch the same way. I think anything used as a desiccant will overly dry out and irritate my skin.Primal Pit Paste (Orange Cream). I was so excited to try this because orange cream! However, the scent is barely perceptible. It basically smells like wax. This is available online for about $10. I used the tube version and the deodorant was extremely thick. Like a chunky grease that you have to hold in your pits for an hour to soften and then it is a bit crumbly and takes some of the skin off when you rub it on. And the rash…evil, evil rash.

Works great!
I love this deodorant! It keeps me smelling fresh all day long and through heavy workouts while only using a small amount. It does smell a little weird just as you are putting it on, but seems to mellow out once it dries. I’ve been using for almost a year.

At last a great ptoduct!
I have had many allergies to antiperspirants and deodorants. I have been using Lumi for about 4 years with no adverse reaction. Great product would recommend. Only one drawback as the product ages sometimes there is a faint sour smell. However wouldn’t stop using it for that still very happy.

Effective and funky smell goes away after application
The most effective deodorant brand Iâve ever used. So far Iâve tried the tangerine scent, which honestly smells like cheese when you apply it, but the icky scent goes away and leaves a neutral scent after application. Iâve also tried the peony rose which also smells funky going on, but doesnât smell once applied. Despite the scents not being awesome, Iâll stick with these deodorants because they do actually keep away the BO. They are not antiperspirant, but they donât claim to be – if anything Iâm extra sweaty, but it doesnât smell so Iâll take it. Subtracted a star for the funky scent but still recommend!

DISGUSTING- *Update*
Update: The seller reached out to address any issues or concerns I had regarding the product and to work to resolve my issues. I had already returned both cream sticks as the smell made them absolutely unusable and throwing $30 down the drain is not something I can do right now. I had also already ordered and received the solid sticks (lavender sage) and am perfectly happy with them. The solid sticks smell mostly of essential oils and I do not detect that funky odor from them. My daughter and I are both very happy with the lavender sage solid sticks and find them very effective. We will be using this solid exclusively and I will be sure not to make the mistake of accidentally ordering the cream stick again.Original review:I accidentally bought this by mistake thinking it was the solid stick. When it came in I thought no biggie, Iâll just use this and be sure to get the solid stick next time. My daughter and I split the 2 pack and she opened hers first, it is absolutely disgusting and smells like funky butt. It doesnât smell anything like the lavender sage solid and is supposed to be the same scent. I only use this on underarms, but know that itâs supposed to be for privates as well. Why in the world would they create a product that smells like the very thing it is supposed to prevent? I donât get how anyone thought this was ok. It is unusable and I canât even give it away. Donât waste your money. Maybe try the solid stick. I hope when the solid comes in it doesnât smell like this and the formula changed or something. The smell of this made me sick to my stomach. It was that bad!

It really does work!!!
Was a skeptic at first but now I’m a believer. Perimenopausal and the night sweats made my shower before bed seem non existent. I would wake up in the morning smelling like I already worked out. This stuff is expensive but so is my notion of smelling fresh when I enter my workplace, so I gave it a try. After my nighttime shower, I applied the product by only using a tiny bit rotating the dial just a skosh and spearing under each arm and rubbing it into my skin. I didn’t think that I smelled anywhere else so I didn’t apply it anywhere else and went to bed. Night sweats didn’t disappoint but this time I didn’t smell like I just all out ran a 5k. While getting ready for work I habitually applied a tiny bit more although I probably didn’t need it. Lume boasts to last 72 hours, but I didn’t test that out as I ritually apply deodorant after showering. Since I use such a tiny amount, I project that this will last me quite some time so perhaps the cost is not that bad considering how many applications I will get from this container.

Burned my skin after 3 uses. Even tried the cream and still happened. Maybe Im allergic to an ingredient. However I have seen many reviews on tik tok with people voicing same complaint.
