Easy to setup and read. High quality weather station.
We live in the far Northern part of the midwest, and with all the terrible weather going on around the country, it seemed like I was always looking for my phone to check the weather conditions. I decided to look for a weather station for the house that would display the current temp outside along with humidity. I was looking for something easy to set up that would sit on a countertop and give us the weather stats whenever we wanted them.I liked this unit because:- It has a big display which makes it easy to read from a distance.- You can add batteries (not supplied) for backup and it plugs into a normal AC outlet for normal operation- Very easy to set up. I took it out of the box, read the directions (which seemed easy to understand), plugged it in, and it began searching for one of its programmed sources of weather information. Bingo! Found a source and started displaying the weather conditions for my location.- It also displays the current time and date which I did not have to set up.- I like the display which shows both outside weather conditions and inside temp/humidity. It is colorful and looks great sitting on our countertop. My only other comment involves the wireless sensor that you place somewhere outside your house. It also has a display that shows the outside temp and humidity. Not sure why you need a display on the outside sensor, since it will probably be located someplace that might not be readily accessible. I have mine in a shady spot off the front porch under an eve so that I can’t just go outside and look at the display which is small enough that you have to be fairly close to read it. So, I guess it is a nice to have but not necessary depending on where you install the sensor. After using this for a week, I have no complaints. It works great, agrees pretty closely with our local TV weather, and was reasonable in cost.Update: I have to change my rating slightly. I have had this weather station for a while now and it is still a nice device. But I live in far North of Illinois, so Winter gets pretty cold up here. We have had a nice warm streak but recently the temperature has gotten down into the low 20’s and high teens and the cold has caused an issue with the remote sensor. At around 20 degrees outside, the inside base station lost the remote signal and was just displaying – – for the outside temp and humidity. I thought maybe the battery on the remote unit was low, so I put a new battery in it. But still the base could not find the remote sensor and just displayed the – – where the readings were supposed to be. I tried resetting the base by taking out it’s backup battery and unplugging it. Then putting the batteries back and plugging it in. No dice. So, I brought the remote sensor into the house and set it next to the base station and waited. After about 10 minutes, the remote warmed up and the base unit picked up the remote’s signal and started working again. I tried putting the remote back outside in the cold and the same thing happened. After about a half hour outside, the remote’s signal quit and the inside base station was again displaying – – for the temp and humidity. So, this time, I brought it back in, waited for the signal to return from the remote, and put the remote out in the garage where it stays warmer – no lower than 30 degrees. And the base and remote have worked fine since. When it warms up outside, I will put the sensor back out. But fair warning – It appears that this unit is sensitive to cold temps and, at least my remote, quit working when the temp gets around 20 degrees and below. So, if you live further South where the temps don’t get so cold, this unit should work fine for you. This product has amazing distance when the remote is working. I have a brick house and the base unit is on the East side of the house next to the far wall. The garage is on the west side of the house and the remote signal has to travel through a brick wall, go outside, and travel through another brick wall to get to the base. And since I put the remote in the warmer garage for now, it works fine. I like the quality of the unit – feels like it is worth the money. And the display is colorful and you can set how bright you want it to be. If it wasn’t for the cold weather issue, it would definitely still be a 5-star review.Update on 12/13/24: I contacted the seller regarding my issue with the remote not working in very cold temperatures and the seller got right back to me. They are very easy to work with and solved my issue by sending me a new remote at no cost. I also didn’t have to return the old remote that had issues in cold temps. The new remote works great in our very cold weather right now! I am including a photo showing that the remote is working fine sitting outside in 9 degree (F) weather. Earlier this morning, it was only 1 degree (F) showing on the base and it was up to 9 degrees when I took the picture. The seller was very gracious and I got the replacement remote in just a few days. It works great and I am a happy buyer and would definitely recommend buying any product that the seller has on the Amazon store.

    Perfect weather station
I love this weather station. It’s easy to set up. Very bright display if you want. It can be dimmed so that it’s not too bright. Setting clock was easy manually and the 1st night it synced with the Atomic clock and gives perfect time. It’s solid and built well. Perfect size with big numbers that are easy to see. My only gripe is the clock display is too small to see across the room. No big deal since I have about 20 clocks and watches throughout the house. Well worth the money.

    It is good value.
After 3 days, it still has not automatically set the time. It says it is Jan 3, not the current date time in March. I had to set manually. This makes me wonder if the clock will be inaccurate in months to come. Other than this problem, it would be 5 stars.Easy to set up, the numbers are easy to see except the date time which is too small from about 6-7 feet. The outside transmitter works great, it is also useful to have the temperature visible outside. It is good value.

    So far, so good…
I say, “So far, so good”, but I just set it up, so… :)***The Good***As soon as I unboxed it, I was impressed by it, it was larger than I had imagined.Immediately I placed the batteries inside both the indoor and outdoor compartments, then the fireworks began, well, I mean, the REALLY PRETTY COLORS came on!I like the fact that the numbers and letters on it are large, it makes it REALLY EASY to see! Very nice, especially when compared to my older one (different brand) that I used since 2016, it finally gave up the ghost. It didn’t take any time at all for it to recognize the outdoor sensor, on my old one, it took several minutes, so technology is a good thing. It looks like a computer monitor screen, it looks REALLY NICE!_________________________________________________***The ‘Not So Good’*** (But not really, ‘bad’)(1) When hanging by a screw that I have in the wall, the inside unit wants to swing when touched, which is NOT GOOD at all, it is NOT SECURE, it just ‘barely’ hangs on the screw, so, if anyone, especially a clumsy or young person that has too much energy comes along and pushes against it too hard, well, it could sure fall.(This does have some somewhat flimsy ‘legs’ that pull away from the back like a picture frame has on the backside, so if you are one that prefers it to be on a table or desk, that should suffice IF there are no cats, dogs, or young kids around)I always have some Velcro on-hand, so I placed ‘one side’ on the back of of the unit, along with the ‘other side’ of the Velcro STILL STUCK ON IT, then I positioned it on the aforementioned screw, then FIRMLY pressed them BOTH against the wall to ensure that the sticky Velcro is adhered. This is very easy, I’m sure that I make it sound harder than it actually is.Although I don’t feel that this is a good design at all from the factory, it is hanging there firm enough that it should not ever be a problem after using Velcro.***(When changing batteries, you need to unhinge the upper part that hangs on the screw, then gently, not forcefully, pull away from the wall to separate the Velcro)***_________________________________________________(2) The outdoor sensor received the same treatment, I placed the Velcro on the backside of it, then pressed it onto my outside wall underneath the eve of the house.I already had a cut-out from a clear plastic bottle (Maybe it was an old ketchup bottle?) that I cut to fit over the sensor to protect it from any rain that ‘could possibly’ get on it. (This is only recommended, you do not have to do that, it worked for years on my other one)_________________________________________________(3) The TAB on the back that is where you would grab to lift the battery compartment lid is odd. They expect you to hang it by a screw, I assume, so there is a small opening on the back of the sensor. The TAB I mentioned prevents the sensor from laying flat against the wall, which is a crazy design. When I placed the Velcro on it, it sticks fine to the lid, but when you press it against the wall FIRMLY, that TAB prevents it from being secure against the wall.I could have removed ‘some’ of the TAB, but I didn’t, just be aware of this in case you want it to lay flat against that wall.If your preference is you like the screw method best, it will work, but, a slight knock on it and it will fall onto the ground, hence the Velcro.Be forewarned! There is more good than any bad, so don’t let me scare you.I cannot really state what this can do until after I actually use it, that takes time, and when and if something on it goes awry, I will most definitely return here and let y’all know.My first impression of it is, I REALLY LIKE IT!Hopefully it will live up to that. :)(11-17-2024)

This has been a very good unit. It works very well even at -35 celsius. I had an issue with the remote but that was not a manufacture issue. It got hit and fell to the ground. I ordered a couple replacements and have had zero issues since.

I found it difficult to set up. It sometimes, for no apparent reason, goes black even while connected to power. The temperature indications are good. The moon phases appear inaccurate. Did not seem to connect to daylight saving

This unit is much more accurate than previous ones that I’ve purchased. The screen is nice and bright but you also have the option of several less bright settings if that suits you better. The transmitter takes AA batteries which is especially important if you get cold winters. The Amazon recommended station uses AAA batteries for the transmitter which fail much faster than AA, especially in the cold and are more expensive. For that reason it probably should not be a recommended product and this one should take its placeThe transmitter and base pair immediately but be aware that the base station screen goes dark while the unit attempts to connect to the atomic clock site. The instructions make reference to this but doesn’t tell you that this usually takes 10-15 minutes or longer so be patient.Customer service is quick, friendly and very helpful.
