Customers say

Customers find the blood pressure monitor to be of good quality, with accurate EKG and blood pressure readings. The device is easy to set up, though some find it awkward to use, and while the EKG feature is cool, some report it doesn’t work at all. Moreover, the Bluetooth connectivity keeps dropping, and the device stops working very sporadically. Additionally, customers disagree on whether it’s worth the price.

Once you get it set up it’s bullet proof, easy, and very informative
I felt that I needed to submit this review since some prior reviews were somewhat negative. However, most of the latter was due to sensitivities associated with privacy, some problems with connecting to Bluetooth, and the fact that it uses AA batteries which is unfair. As for privacy, it no longer needs to send your initial results for calibration. It starts tracking and monitoring from the first use. As for the batteries, I’ve used mine now 2-3 times daily for 2 weeks and no battery issues. In fact, I like the fact that it’s so portable. So here’s my review. Download the Omron Connect app to your phone. Be sure your phone is on bluetooth. Be sure you have a good WiFi signal. Go to your phone settings to monitor for connected devices. Push the bluetooth search button on the Omron unit. Accept the connection on your phone. When you start the Omron Connect app, you will need to sign-up for an account. Yes, it will ask for your permission to send your data to Omron so that they can monitor. The free service is all I use. There is a separate, included piece of paper with the unit that says that you no longer need to have your first EKG reviewed by a doctor for “calibration” purposes. I didn’t sign up for any of the subscriptions yet I still find what I get for free from the app to be perfect. I can list all my past blood pressure (BP) readings and send them as an Excel file to myself or doctor by email for tracking. I can send a snapshot of any EKG reading (it stores them on the phone, I think there’s a limit as to how many it stores, I have 2 weeks of EKG right now) and send it by email also. The app lets you chart BP by days, weeks, months. I really don’t need anything else.So with your account created and the Omron Connect open and running on the phone, go to the Dashboard on the app and select the “Blood Pressure + EKG” option, scroll down a little and you’s see a button that says “Record Blood Pressure and EKG”. Push it and it will bring up an instruction screen that says to connect the BP cuff to your arm, push the “START/STOP” button on the Omron Unit, and place your thumbs and fingers on the metal sensing pads.” So here is where its a little tricky. You need to actually have the Unit OFF since when you press the “START/STOP” button it will in effect turn off if its on. So i usually just set up my phone, place it in the convenient resting cradle on the unit, attach the cuff, and then turn the unit on. It starts automatically. After the EKG is done, wait until your BP reading shows up on the UNIT and then lift your fingers/thumbs off the unit. Everything is stored automatically. It doesn’t take too many tries before you figure out how to use the unit. You get an instantaneous review of your BP and EKG on your phone. This unit is perfect. I can see why this unit will save lives. The feedback is instant and you can check it several times (though be sure to release the cuff and wait a few minutes between readings). If it takes a few times to get it to work for you be sure you disregard the first few readings as your BP probably went up a bit due to the “stress” associated with getting to know how it works. Once you have it down, it always works.I highly recommend this unit and this company. This is a real medical instrument by the best company in the business. (I gave the accuracy only 4 stars since I don’t really know how accurate it is; but it is the only home BP and EKG unit that is accredited so I trust it).

Great Unit with both BPM & EKG
First unit has a wide range if +/- 10 error. I exchanged for another unit that is properly sealed and accuracy us within +/- 5 now. Love the look & functionality of this device. I like the EKG feature in this unit and the ability to keep track of your health through the app.

    heart, healthy, informative
This is a great product. It works very well. The only problem you may encounter first is synchronization with a smart phone via Bluetooth. Otherwise, once you’ve overcome that it works excellent and keeps a stored history on your phone.

Check compatibility with your Kardia, mobile device
Product as described and-well-made. Still unable to connect my KArdia Mobile heart monitor to the OMRON BP monitor which was one of the reasons why I purchased it to begin with so that I could do both the cardiac monitoring and blood pressure at the same time.

This will NOT record EKG if you have a complex Cardiogram, or if your Heart Rate is less than 50bpm.
Also, there is a Subscription that is required after the 6 month free trial of the Subscription Service. This device would not properly record my EKG since my Heart’s Rate is less than 50 BPM and my EKG activity is more complicated than the simple EKG patterns that it will record, if your heart rate is 50 BPH or higher. I am routinely monitored with a three wire remote sensor EKG Sensor for Cardiac Rehabilitation without any trouble reading and recording my data. The “Quick Start Guide” is almost useless for setup and pairing the device to my smart phone, since it didn’t mention or show where the Bluetooth Button is located when it is time to pair the devices during the setup process. The setup process also seemed like a Cardiac Stress Test with the missing info. There is a video within the OmronConnect App, that has steps, but you can’t pause the video and go back to the step by step list for setup, and you have to stop the app to exit the video. Very frustrating! Due to the shortcoming of not recording my EKG, I returned the Omron BP7900 to Amazon.

    Great purchase
Absolutely ahhhhmazing. Worth every dime! Highly recommend. It keeps track of your readings (I used to write them down for my doc when I had an older Omron reader). EKG goes right to your phone. Read the instructions. Very easy to follow.

    Support does not exist.
Update: support finally contacted me with a workaround. Not a great option but at least it worked. Still, should not have taken so long. But upgrading score. This is a great device. Gives a reasonably accurate blood pressure reading and the quality of the EKG surprised my cardiologist. I have intermittent afib and the importance of taking regular EKGs can not be overstated. For quite a while this need was met quite well by this product. However in order to take an EKG you must use the app along with this device. You don’t need the app for a BP reading, but you do for an EKG. And herein is the problem.A few days ago this app simply froze up. It not only froze on my phone but on my wife’s also. I have deleted the app and reinstalled it with the same result. The app opens, nothing works, and after a few seconds closes itself. I have tried multiple ways to contact Omron including sending an email to the email address given on their website, filling out a contact form on their website, leaving a message on their Facebook page, and leaving comments on their Facebook posts. All, every single one, has been ignored. No response.Without the app working this device is basically a paperweight. The very least a company of this size should be able to do is respond. They have chosen not to. I am giving this a 2 star instead of a 1 star because the device works for a BP reading, and used to work for the EKG. Now however, for me, it is a useless piece of equipment.Buyer beware.
