Outstanding Cookbook! One of my top “go to” cookbooks for a quick, delicious meal.
I was excited when I ordered this cookbook. The âOnce Upon a Chefâ is one of my favorite blogs and websites. Her recipes are always terrific. Down to earth (easy to find) ingredients put together in delicious combinations. Yummy. These are a few of the recipes I intend to work my way through:⢠Southwestern Corn Chowder⢠Coconut Curry Chicken & Rice Noodle Soup⢠Smoky Chickpea, Red Lentil & Vegetable Soup⢠Eastern Shore Crab Soup⢠Lasagna Soup with Ricotta Cream⢠Oven Roasted Chicken Shawarma⢠Crispy Fried Chicken Sandwiches⢠Blackened Fish Tacos with Pickled Onions & Lime Cream⢠Ginger Pork Sliders with Tangy Slaw & Spicy Mayo⢠Summer Pasta Primavera⢠Drunken-Style Noodles with Shrimp⢠Sheet Pan Roast Chicken with Artichokes, Potatoes, Carrots, & Peas⢠Pecorino & Rosemary Crusted Chicken⢠Creamy Dijon Chicken with Peas⢠Baked Salmon with Honey Mustard & Pecan Panko Crust⢠Hoisin Pork & Vegetable Rice Bowls⢠Cherry Ricotta Cake⢠Raspberry Frozen Yogurt⢠âLuckyâ Sausage & Cheddar Drop Biscuits⢠Seafood & Sausage Paella⢠Cioppino (Fishermanâs Stew)⢠Latin Style Roast Pork with Lime Chimichurri Sauce⢠Five-Star Beef Stew with Carrots & Potatoes⢠Strawberry & Cream Layer Cake⢠Sour Cream Chocolate Loaf Cake⢠Kentucky Bourbon Cake⢠Gingerbread Cupcakes with Cream Cheese FrostingThere are a lot more recipes included in this cookbook. These are just the one that I have bookmarked to try first.By the way, the Cherry Ricotta Cake is delicious. It is the first one I tried. The Corn Chowder is on the stove now and a pan of fresh cornbread is in the oven. The Tangy Slaw that goes with the Ginger Pork Sliders is a staple now in my kitchen. We use it instead of lettuce on just about everything. It is delicious on tacos!Outstanding cookbook! Her recipes over the years have never failed and have always been yummy!

Cooked hundreds of Jennâs recipes!
Her website is beautiful and so easy to navigate but I love to hold the book in my hand. There are always exclusive recipes and after having cooked hundreds of them I can say this chef is the reason I love to cook. Iâm a working mom of 3 and while I like to get creative I also need to know the meal is going to turn out good. She has never let me down and whenever someone says they canât think of what to make for dinner anymore I put them onto Once Upon A Chef. From simple basics to more ethnic dishes this cookbook has it all and the accuracy of âhow toâ is hands down the best directions from any chef I have come across. Delicious results and realistic ingredients that I can get in more rural areas.

Scrumptious Recipes!
I first found Jennifer on the internet, when searching for new ideas for muffins….WOW, I’ve been a fan ever since! It’s not often one finds such a talented, accomplished chef who is so willing to share everything with others.I am not a chef, but I do love to cook and bake and have never been disappointed with anything this talented chef puts out there. I especially love her attention to detail and her tips along the way. Thank you for yet another wonderful diverse collection of perfection! I gained at least five pounds reading this book!

Inspiringly delicious!
I start out a huge fan of Jennifer Segal’s blog, Once Upon a Chef. I own a copy of her first cookbook, which has been my favorite and most used cookbook thus far.As far as this latest cookbook? It is awesome! I must admit, I was slightly disappointed when I first thumbed through the book at how many recipes I already make from her blog that are included in this book. I think the disappointment was just because it was a surprise to me. If I had known in advance there would be a mix of old and new recipes, I still would have purchased the book! Any disappointment I felt very quickly faded and turned into inspiration (and a very large grocery list!)This cookbook is a beautiful work of art. Classy, understated elegance, gorgeous photos and well organized. Jenn has a way of breaking down cooking steps and making difficult tasks seem more simple. Although a lot of the “weeknight” recipes aren’t what you might necessarily consider a quick, “weeknight” meal, she includes tips for making part or all of some recipes in advance if you want (which is totally how I like to operate). As long as you are organized and have everything you need to put these recipes together when you get home, they really can come together quickly! This book is inspiring — even weeknight meals can be “special”!I have tried many of the recipes from this book, her prior cookbook, and from her blog and I have never been disappointed or not had a recipe turn out. Every single one of her recipes is something special — even the “Simple Sides”! According to my husband, the meals I am making are better than anything you will get from a restaurant. (This compliment is the direct effect of using Jennifer Segals’s recipes!) Her recipes are the only ones I would ever consider making for company without a trial run first. They are all so well tested, tweaked and perfected. They always turn out delicious!Bottom line — I recommend this book.

Amazing
By far, my most favorite cookbook. Every single recipe just hit the spot, combination of flavors in each recipe is made exactly to my liking! Simply Amazing

Easy Recipes, Great Results, Poor Layout
The recipes always turn out perfectly. Ingredients are easy to source. Directions are clear. Organization of the recipes could be better. My biggest gripe is the text font and size. The bold font for the ingredients is helpful, but the tiny size of the fractions is hard to read {Is that 1/2 or 1/3?). And the light font for the directions is hard to read, especially when the background is not white. On most of the pages there is blank space that could have been used to advantage with a larger font size.

Nothing to dislike! Very tasty recipes which are accessible to all. My only comment is that some of the ingredient names e. g. âChicken tendersâ arenât widely recognised in Europe soNamed, suitable substitutes would be helpful.

Jenâs first cook book is one of my all time favourite cook books and I have a lot. I have followed her blog for years and all my family and friends love her recipes, so I pre-ordered this book as soon as I could. It had a lot to live up to. I have had it for a week now and have a big list of recipes I canât wait to try. I have already made the lasagne soup, Blackened Fish Tacos and Creamy Potato soup all of which have been easy and really tasty. There are a few family favourites in the book that I have been making for years from her blog such as breakfast burritos, chicken Marsala and Greek style shrimp, itâs nice to have them in hard copy as well. If you are looking for a cookbook that you will use over and over again, with recipes that wonât fail then I definitely recommend Weeknight/weekend. I will be buying extra copies for Christmas presents

I really like Jenn Segal’s cooking philosophy…make it delicious, but don’t make it hard to prepare. Great recipes, easy to follow instructions, lots of tips on how to replace some hard-to-find ingredients for ethnic dishes.

The recipes are not difficult and are really tasty. Good for a family and I use it when my adult children and grandchildren come for dinner.
