I bought this steamer a little over a month ago, for my salon and the other day, I noticed that water was leaking and I looked to see where it was coming from, and discovered that the entire cup melted. This can be very dangerous. And I went to go get a refund from Amazon and I was out of the date to return. Iâm so frustrated.ð¥ºð¡

A bit awkward at home
This facial steamer was fairly straightforward to put together and was easy to use, and the facial steaming was quite pleasant. That being said, this is definitely more than a solo user needs just for facial steaming. You can’t use the lighted magnifying glass on your own face, after all. And while the rolling wheels setup makes this very convenient to move around, it’s rather large and difficult to disassemble for storage. Unless you have a dedicated area for it or are using it for other people in a professional setting, I think it’s a bit much.That being said… it has a super bright light and an awesome magnifying glass, and the rolling ability makes it incredibly useful as a work light for things like crafts, and that is actually where I ended up setting this up! This works well to help me work on detail work, and then I can give myself a bit of a facial afterwards (or before) to relax. That is a good enough excuse for me to keep it out and being used, and it definitely is great for that. The light is on a flexible gooseneck so you can position it and the magnifying glass wherever you may need it, and it’s a great height for leaning back in a desk chair and just chilling out.There is a timer to control the steam, but it doesn’t start counting down when the steam starts. Instead, it starts as soon as you turn it on, so if you set it for a 15 minute steam, the first 5 or 6 minutes will be spent heating the water up from room temperature, and then you get a 9-10 minute steam. It does beep and shut off automatically at the end of the time set, which is good. The water pot, however, has no insulation of any kind and becomes very hot (it’s holding boiling water!). Though there is a heat hazard symbol on it, it’s not the easiest to see, and while it’s not likely to be accidentally touched, it also not completely protected from accidental touches. I’m also not certain why there’s a light that can be turned on inside the water container, unless you just like watching water boil. The heat ripples of the convecting water currents were a bit pretty, I guess…Instructions for this machine were hit or miss. On the same page, it recommends that you don’t use distilled or pure water, but also that you SHOULD use distilled or pure water to reduce scale. I suspect this is poor translation issues, but the instructions aren’t very helpful at all, and I recommend looking to the internet for guidance on the best practices for this sort of device.I cannot speak to the effectiveness of the essential oil aromatherapy bit, as mine arrived broken. The way it is supposed to work is you soak these little (presumably cotton?) buds with the oil, then insert one into a holder that holds it in the spray of steam. However, my holder was snapped off upon delivery, and short of super gluing it back into place, it was unfixable. I don’t use essential oils, though, so I’m not upset. However, it would be my recommendation that this piece is redesigned to either fold into the device for safer transport/storage or be a piece that snaps or slots or screws into place so it can be better packaged for transport. Other than this one point of damage, I was pleased with the protection of this item.Four stars for arriving damaged with poor instructions and being awkward to just have around your house unless you make a dedicated space for it, but otherwise, I am quite happy with this device.

It seems like it would be incredible if I was offering this professionally and had more qualifications to feel like I could safely offer it to more than just my immediate family. no regrets and certainly love having it around. makes me feel very luxurious that I have this option whenever I want without having to pay someone else to do it for me. probably overall saving money getting to do it myself rather than having to go out to get it done…
