This exactly what I thought I would need!
I purchased the leg lifter because I knew I would probably need it for my upcoming surgery , which I later cancelled as Iâll tell you later on. I was having revision knee replacement surgery on my right knee because after the first replacement hurt so badly, I wanted my leg amputated after the second day of my first TKA. I was chronically in pain the whole time I wore it- 5 yrs+. After two years, I went investigating myself possible reasons why it would hurt like that and I read about metal allergies. Long story short, it took me three years and five orthopedic surgeons to say that they donât believe in metal allergies until I finally found a surgeon that offered a blood test to test for metal allergies and it costs $435 and itâs not covered by insurance but I wanted it done anyway .Through the test I found that I am highly reactive to Nickel, and so I had to find a surgeon that used nickel free implants and thankfully I found one. I had the surgery two weeks ago and Iâm walking without assistance (no walkers or canes) I could not believe how great my new knee felt as I took my first steps on the day of the surgery. I was doing stairs the following day, and I was ready to go home! I practiced using the leg lifter before I went to the hospital and it worked great! As far as any lack of instructions go, it surprises me how people can operate an iPhone without any instructions, yet they donât know how to unfold the leg lifter? I had no problem unfolding it – itâs straight and it works great. Thereâs no kinking, bunching or bending as was mentioned in another Reviews. I did use it for one of my post surgery knee exercises for the heel slides. I used it to pull my foot closer to my body to gain more flexion and Iâm already passed 90° Iâm like 110° 2 weeks after surgery! I expected a lot more pain than what I had after this surgery! And this revision was a three hour surgery instead of a normal two hours surgery. So find a surgeon that you feel comfortable with and you trust, doesnât try to talk you out of what you need. Donât be afraid to say, âNO!â With one surgeon, I was 4 days away from surgery and I canceled it. Firstly, I never met the surgeon which was a big red flag and then other doctors were telling me about complications that doctor had and some of his patients needed amputations! After I asked his PA, if he does revision total knee replacement, the PA said he does them on a âcase by caseâ basis. Needless to say, I left there as soon as I could and I was never going back.Update! I just had my left knee transplant surgery 12 days ago (3 months from right knee TKA) and Iâm still using the leg lifter for 2 PT exercises instead of a towel. Itâs so much easier than trying to use a towel! My knee is still very tight and doing any flexion exercises donât hurt at all, itâs just that itâs so tight, I canât get the bend that I want. I checked my calendar and remembered that I first saw my outside PT 3 weeks from surgery and I was able to sit with my ankles crossed underneath the chair! My therapist kept asking, âDoesnât that hurt?â I told him it doesnât. I worked really hard on the flexion exercises because I wanted to get full range of motion and the only way to do so was to be consistent and thorough with all exercises they want you to do. I got my flexion angle to 120 degrees which I think is what they want. 𤣠I was able to put full weight on my surgery leg after surgery when they got me up the day of surgery. Boy, was I scared! Remember my first nickel transplant was extremely painful and I wasnât able to put any weight on my surgery leg. The PT accused me of not trying. I was in excruciating pain because of the unknown nickel allergy. So ladies, if you canât wear cheap pierced earrings, you may want to ask to have the metal allergy test done before surgery. If the surgeons say they donât know about any test, thatâs most likely because they only do nickel transplants. Surgeons seem learn only on a specific kind of transplant and most are make of nickel. I heard some docs donât believe in the blood tests though. Skin allergy tests donât work because this is an internal transplant and not something that will cause contact dermatitis. So if you need a knee transplant, ask as many questions as you want! If youâre not comfortable with the surgeon, go find another. My doctor was my first D.O. surgeon I have ever gone to and I really liked him a lot! Thatâs not saying that Iâll switch to all D.O. doctors, yet I was very happy with him from the first consultation! He spent 15+ minutes with us and thatâs not normal. Weâll, as usual, another long review, yet I believe itâs all important to stand up for yourself and say âNo!â when youâre uncomfortable. Iâve dealt with some mental health doctors who have a âgod complexâ thinking they know better than we do. They donât and when one doc went against our daughterâs wishes as stated on our MPOA , we got the Patient Advocate involved. They are there to fight WITH YOU against the system! We even were able to talk to the director a long time. Due to ours and others complaints, he didnât last longer at that hospital. Our daughter did not want to take a certain medication because she didnât like how it made her feel and nether did we. So when she told us that her made her take it, we went immediately to the hospital to confront him by going through the Patient Advocate first! Most people donât know about PAâs in hospitals, yet they are there and so willingly to help!I really went off topic, yet my mind wonât stop when one subject leads to another! Have a great day!

Wonderful assist
Helps lift leg into bed. The steel shaft needs to be longer. But it does work. If taller than 5′ 8″ then get longer unit.

Well worth the price, very useful for PT after hip surgery.
I purchased this to use with my PT after hip replacement, and am pleased with it : the fabric handle is easy to use; theloop for the foot is sized so likely fits any foot or shoe; it’s great for calf stretching exercises; the semi rigid design of the body means you don’t have to bend to use it. I like this product.

Sturdy and easy to use.
Helpful lifting leg after knee/hip surgery. Makes it easy getting leg in/out of bed. Helps to lift legs on a foot stool to help relax while sitting in a chair. Recommending this one!!

Perfect for after hip replacement surgery!
Perfect for after hip surgery! This helped me to get in and out of my bed without breaking my hip precautions. Iâm so glad I found it!

Not as helpful as I had hoped.
I bought this becausr I’m recovering from hip replacement surgery. Product just uses a wire sewn into the shaft to give it rigidity. That means the loop freely turns to either side when you’re trying to loop it over your foot. They should have either used something flat or at least afixed the wire to the fabric so the loop wouldn’t turn. It’s better than using a belt to lift my leg, but mainly because of length and not because of the way it is made.

A must-have for those with broken femurs or hip problems
Invaluable for those with hip issues or broken femurs. Those conditions make it very hard to lift the damaged leg. this lifter will allow you to get in bed, put your leg on an ottoman, or even help you move your leg in order to get shoes one.

I didn’t think I needed this after my hip replacement surgery, but I am glad I bought it. I am young and strong but felt weak after my surgery, so this helped me get in and out of bed easily during the first couple of days. It was also helpful to have beside my bathtub to have a shower on my bath bench. It’s design is simple with a thin metal rod sandwiched between the webbing on the foot hold and though the length of the strap which makes leg lifting easier.

Just what I needed

Game changer for after a knee replacement. The metal wire in one loop and the length of the strap makes it easy to conform and hold the shape. Makes moving your leg easier when it canât move itself. Only wish the wire ran in the other loop as well.

I have reservations about how long this device will last when you are bending it regularly so you can store it in the car. Otherwise it does the job required, but getting it off your foot is not so easy

Useless! As noted by others, no metal rod, nothing strong or bendable. This company needs to either refund us and change their description, or send everyone a replacement (with the rod)! This writeup is a farce:RIGID STRAP: The 1â strap fabric is made of a high quality woven fabric that is light in weight but strong and will last for a long time. The metal Rod sewn inside the fabric strap is made of a Zinc Alloy designed to be strong yet bendable and durable through repeated use.
