Well made exercise bike – but not for short people
I recently purchased the Sunny SF-B223012 Folding X-Bike. I made this purchase after viewing and researching at least thirty folding exercise bikes. I am pleased with the purchase of this bike and would recommend. I am a 65 year old woman who is 5′ 9″ tall with a 31 inch pants inseam. I have been an avid treadmill walker and outside walker and bicyclist for most of my adult life, but due to developing some severe neurological and spinal problems, I have lost my ability to walk for any distance and exercise equipment with vibration became detrimental. Biking remained the most comfortable form of exercise for me, but I live in a northern state with extremes of cold in the winter and heat & humidity in the summer (so my outside biking was very limited). The height of this exercise bike was an important factor for me when making my decision to purchase. Here are the pros and cons of this Sunny X-Bike. This bike is very sturdy and well made. I was looking for an exercise bike that would be stable on medium depth carpeting, so the width and diameter (2 inch diameter) of the bottom frame pieces was important. I also wanted the bike to be safe when mounting and when riding (no risk of tip over.) The back frame piece is slightly wider (22 inches) than the front piece (17 inches), helping to make the X-bike completely stable with no vibration or wobbling from side to side. The flywheel is extremely smooth – easy to peddle and extremely quiet. The seat back is exactly what I needed, as it supports by low back / lumbar spine. I have no problem using the resistance bands that are included on the back of the bike. My husband assembled the bike in about an hour with no difficulty. I received a new bike with no damage or missing parts. I was able to start training on this bike at resistance level 7 for 20 to 30 minutes with no difficulty. I plan to raise the level and extend the time as my body gets more conditioned. I am finding that I am using the handlebars by the seat most often, rather than the forward handles, and the back handles are very comfortable for me. These back handles swing upward to move them out of the way when mounting or dismounting the bike. The seat itself is also comfortable and does not cause any pinching or chafing. This X-Bike is tall and it works well for those of taller stature. My husband is 6’2″ and can ride this bike comfortably. That being said, I think that someone who is small in size may have difficulty with this bike. The seat does adjust down (so legs will reach the pedals), but a short person may have difficulty stepping over the center “X” of the frame (20 inches). This may also be an issue for anyone who is older or who has hip or leg problems. A lower recumbent bike might be a better option in those cases. This X-bike does not convert to a recumbent bike. It only has one position (fully open) or closed for transport/easier storage. The mini transport wheels on this Sunny X-bike work well and are an added plus (compared to other cheap plastic rollers that are built into the bottom frame pieces on other folding exercise bikes). This bike could be improved by making the front handlebars tilt adjustable. With having to adjust the seat high enough to accommodate my inseam, the handlebar height is fine, but the “reach” is a bit long (without leaning forward, which negates the support of the seat back). The worst con about this bike is the digital display. You cannot see the display if you are riding in low light. The numbers change on the display, but the identifiers are stamped into the black plastic on the bottom of the display panel and very difficult to read while using the bike. The only way to utilize the digital display is if you memorize the order – Time, Speed, Distance, Calories, Odometer, Rpm, Pulse. The display number stays on each of the markers for approx. 3 seconds each, then rotates to the next marker, continually repeating through the series and starting over again the entire time you are exercising. You cannot go directly to pulse or calories by any push of a button, but have to wait for the display to run through each of the numbers about every 20 seconds. The pulse sensors seem to be working well and accurately, but you must grip the sensors on the forward handlebars at least 5 seconds before the display bounces to the Pulse setting or the display returns a “P” instead of a number. The display is black digits on gray background making it difficult to read in low light. The digital display could be much improved by changing to bright green digits and by including the identifier (calories, pulse, etc.) on the actual display, rather than on the plastic frame outside of the display. I have not used the Sunny Fitness App yet, but it sounds like it might be a fun addition. One final factor in my decision to purchase this bike, is that Sunny Fitness had a headquarters office in California. This exercise bike is probably made and assembled in China, but it is distributed by a supplier located within the United States. I have not needed to seek Customer Service help, so cannot address customer care, but at least a few American citizens are employed by the company that distributes this exercise bike. Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase and will put up with the display panel issues due to the wonderful comfort and stability that this exercise bike offers.

Works Well Overall
Good quality and weight, nice fit, simple assembly, easy to fold for storage. Quiet and stable operation with variable resistance levels. The one thing downside is that the seat back started coming apart after only a couple of sessions, so I am working on a solution or a cover (that part of the bike is poorly constructed). The app is a quick download and it operates well with bluetooth connectivity. I would recommend.

Great bike for the price! It is sturdy, comfortable, and fairly easy to assemble. It took me about an hour to put it together, but I wasn’t in a rush and read the instructions thoroughly. I recommend putting it together on carpet or a sheet so it doesn’t slide around while tightening bolts. I’ve used it every day for about three weeks, and I am quite impressed by it. The side bars are surprisingly useful, as is the water bottle holder on the back of the seat. So far, everything works well, and is super quiet. Also, it doesn’t take up much space, which is awesome for apartment living. If you want a bike with really high resistance, this might not be the bike for you. I switch between 7 and 8 (out of 10) for resistance and am happy with it. I bought it because I’m looking to get in better shape and enjoy my workouts. This bike is definitely helping achieve both goals 🙂

this came cwey quicky the package ws damaged but there were no missing parts or pieces. my husband put it together quickly. this bike is amazing. I ride a lot when the weather is good. I run my two small dogs but that is another story, The bike is easy to handle and move around and use. I particularily like the resistence bands. it even has a little shelf to put mmy Ipad on.. It folds up easily and takes little room. if yu arelooking for an exercise bike get this.

The bike was so damage severely that metal was vents so they cannot attach to each other to assemble and the paint was chipped in multiple places and one of the wheels was cracked. It came in a dirty damaged box that was re taped up all over the place. It just seems like I was sent someone else’s return. It’s going to take a month to get my money back. Who ever has my money gets to make interest off it as I wait for my money back. Good to know the customer is the one who inconvenienced for time, money, and effort. Never again. Would not recommend this to anyone.
