Best cookbook Iâve tried
I almost never write reviews but this book is so amazing I just have to! I am gluten free, sensitive to lactose, and try very very hard to only eat non-processed/organic food. All of this on top of working full time makes it hard for me to make a wide variety of meals. I always find myself falling back to my handful of âsafe mealsâ that I like, are simple enough to make on a week night, and fit my health goals. This book has really helped me get out of my routine, in the best way possible. The recipes in here focus on health in the broad sense of the word, which is how I like to define it. There is no counting calories or macros. No fad diets. No restrictions. Only Whole Foods with interesting, yet relatively simple recipes. There is an entire section at the beginning dedicated to the best ways to substitute for various dietary restrictions (ex- âhow to make it gluten freeâ or âhow to make it veganâ). The author also uses suggestion bubbles to give you ways to tweak her recipe to fit your lifestyle. My personal favorite is âhow to make it nutrient dense,â where she shows you how to add things like protein powder, chia, flax, more veggies etc. Almost all the ingredients she uses are health focused while still being delicious. I have yet to make a bad recipe in here. Definitely worth the purchase!!

Healthy Cooking Made Easy
I donât read food blogs and I had no idea who Monique Volz was until someone recommended her blog to me. Hereâs my unbiased review:As far as the recipes go, thereâs a good variety. Theyâre well balanced in macros, with fiber and vegetables. Theyâre not your typical âhealthyâ recipes that require weird ingredients you canât find at a normal grocery store. The front cover says âAbsolutely Never Boringâ. I agree. I canât wait to make everything in this book.I like how the ingredients are broken down by component, making it easy for me to prep as much as possible at night and cook the next day. Thereâs also instructions for how to adjust for dietary restrictions, make more nutritious, store, and make ahead. So far Iâve made the breakfast burritos and pumpkin chipotle enchiladas, both fantastic. My toddler even ate the enchiladas! I will say, I think you need to boil the potatoes for the breakfast burritos before pan frying, mine took forever to cook in the pan. I may have done something wrong though. This cookbook has everything youâd want if youâre looking for healthy, easy meals that everyone in your family will eat. Thank you Monique for all of your work putting it together!

Love! Love! Love!
I’ve been an Ambitious Kitchen devotee for years so when she announced that her cookbook was done I immediately pre ordered the hard cover. Monique’s recipes are wonderfully flavorful, creative & totally original. My husband and I rarely eat out so I’m always on the lookout for new recipes. Our diet is mostly vegan but chicken’s not off the list cause sometimes you just need that blast of pure protein, ya know? And the baking recipes?? Holy cannoli! They’re delicious and, bonus! most are actually healthy! This book is beautifully written, not over illustrated and easy to follow. The ingredients aren’t crazy and the prep isn’t an hours long process. Both of my adult kids love to cook (like their mom) so I bought them both a copy! Buy this cookbook, you won’t be disappointed!

If you could only buy one cookbook, this one is it.
I’ve been a long-time reader and supporter of Ambitious Kitchen (I’ve been cooking from her blog and Instagram at least since 2017) and I have to be honest, this cookbook will be my new go-to for my weeknight cooking, meal prep, AND standout dishes for hosting dinner parties with my husband. The cookbook is PACKED with INCREDIBLE, easy, flavorful and nourishing meals including so many smoothie and sauce ideas that I am shook to the core at how amazing they sound and look! I just made the Tahini Gochujang sauce and it’s going to be on monthly rotation for sure. From everything from breakfast to dinner with snacks and desserts in between, this cookbook is truly the only cookbook any one needs. I love how she writes out the dietary preferences for each meal, substitutions, and so much more. There was so much love, thought, and care that went into this book – it’s evident by the writing, the recipes, and the tips shared throughout. It’s going to be my holiday gift to friends and family for sure!

This is the one!
I have over 20 cookbooks in my kitchen, but this is the one that I canât stop cooking from. It is such a good blend of unusual flavors and tried and true classics. After printing recipes from Moniqueâs blog for years and putting them in my own binder, it has been so fun to have a physical book. The energy ball section is absolute gold. My toddler devours them everyday for a snack. The chocolate chip cookies and salted scotcheroos blew my families mind at Christmas. We also have loved the chicken soup, banana muffins, pumpkin enchiladas, sweet and salty energy bars, herby Greek chickpea salad, and the one pot yellow curry. I have shared these recipes with friends and just gifted it to my mom. Buy this book!

She is beauty, she is grace. And the recipes are DELICIOUS!
First off, I love the way this cookbook is set up! It is so organized and has super fun titles for all the sections and the recipes. There is a section at the beginning with details on substitutions, one on how to store everything in the freezer, and some basic tips and tricks to keep in mind. A section I love is “the flavor bible” which concisely includes many flavorful dressings and sauces. So far, I have made “everyone’s favorite baked chicken tacos (packed with veggies)” and “superfood broccoli salad with grains, nuts & seeds,” both of which totally exceeded my expectations and were so delightful! There is such a huge variety of recipe types in here that feel like everyone could find something to love. The flavor combinations are so creative and unique! Lastly, the cookbook is just stunning to look at. The images are mouthwatering – I can’t wait to try many more recipes!

This is a gorgeous book! So fun to read & inspiring to cook from. I gave up putting âto-makeâ sticky tabs on the recipes ⦠there were too many. Everything Iâve tried has been amazing. Often books published around the same time/year have similar recipes but this AK book is really different to those in similar categories (& I have hundreds of recipe books). Definitely worth buying, itâs unique, creative & every recipe is delicious.

I have been following Moniqueâs Ambitious Kitchen journey for quite some time and she is by far, my favourite inspiration for creative, fun, delicious and nutritious food. It is wonderful to learn about the memories these recipes evoke in her and I am excited to evoke new memories with my family, through her recipes. The book is vibrant, beautifully written, informative and each recipe looks fantastic. I canât wait to try them all!

I have been a fan of Monique’s for years, and was hoping and wishing and praying for this book! It’s finally here and it did not disappoint! What a beautiful cookbook! I have a son who is both gluten and dairy free and Monique’s recipes are all nutritious and flavourful and easy to adapt to GF/DF if they aren’t written that way already. And unlike most GF baked good recipes that rely heavily on white rice flours, her recipes use healthy oat and almond flours (or adapt to them). These recipes are so delicious and so healthy and so flavourful. Run.. don’t walk… and add this to your collection and give Ambitious Kitchen a follow!
