Love the design, but weak latch leads to loss
I love the design of this lock, the way it tucks out of the way and it’s very easy to use and put back, and looks nice. But i’ve lost two in the last 6 months because the latch didn’t keep the lock fastened and it fell off somewhere along my route. When the first one fell off, I ordered the identical lock, but went ahead and replaced the holder, even though the first one was still in place and seemed functional. But the second lock fell off within a month, and I had never even removed it from the holder to use it in that time.I’m still debating whether to try again or replace it with a different brand or design.UPDATE: Seller reached out and offered a refund – I went ahead and replaced it with the same product. I’ve mounted this one horizontally on the bike instead of vertical so there will be less pressure on the latch, but this new one seems tighter with less play than the first one. Still love the design.In case you don’t find instructions for your new lock, you just set the combination to 0000 (the default code) and open the lock. There’s a ridged circular dial inside – just turn it about a quarter turn, change the numbers to something you’ll remember, then turn the dial back to it’s original setting. That’s all that’s needed to change the combination. Close the lock and spin the dials and it should be locked. Set it to your new numbers and it should open.

This combination bike lock can be a customized with a 4-digit resettable code. I love this feature, because you can choose a code that you and other family members will remember. Although available in multiple fun colors, I chose steel gray because I think the combo numbers are easier to read.The lock was purchased for use in a rural area where Iâm not overly concerned about theft. Itâs four feet long, so I can lock it around just one wheel. It also comes in longer lengths, so in an urban area you might want a six-foot lock to go around both front and back wheels.A spring-loaded mounting bracket is easy to install on the bike frame, so the lock can be rolled up and stored there.

Great locks but a bit cumbersome to work with
I purchased 2 of these bike locks for our young kids so they can have the option of riding their bikes to school. The programmable lock works great and it’s a necessity that we can program it to something the kids can easily remember. They were also able to just keep the locks under the handlebars of their small bikes, wrapped around the bar when not in use. So far so good. In actual use, both kids found it a bit difficult to maneuver them around their bikes and the bike stand and getting it to lock and unlock effectively. That’s not so much to say the locks aren’t well made; they are. It’s just it takes getting used to and both kids were frustrated initially, with the lock always want to coil and the “key” not always pulling out or going in as easily as you might expect. Eventually they figure it out, maybe with a little help sometimes. Just wish it was easier for them to do on their own, but that will certainly come with time and practice.

Not durable/reliable
Code stopped working and lock broke apart.Initially I loved it. Liked that I could set my own code and it fit perfectly around my bike frame (didnât jangle around when riding, wasnât in the way, easy to put on/off). I used this a handful of times when riding around locally and then I took my bike on vacation where I had to use the lock multiple times daily for about 3 days. On my second to last day of vacation I went to unlock my bike and my code wouldnât work. I tried slight variations of my code to see if maybe it somehow got changed. No luck. Continued trying my code and adjusting the angle of the lock to see if it was jammed and then all of sudden it broke free. Iâm not that strong so the fact that I was able to rip it part was surprising. In the situation, I was thankful it broke because I would have been stranded with my bike stuck to a rack but given the ease it broke I wouldnât trust it as a durable lock, let alone the fact that my code just stopped working randomly.

In less than 2 months the passcode stop working with my sonâs bike locked in. I took a photo of the passcode before locking it to remember it when I first use it, but yesterday it stopped working. I read the 1 star reviews and there are many like me having the same issue.Therefore, I borrow a simple common saw and I was able to cut it in less than 60 seconds.I hope I get a full refund.
