Love my Verilux Happy Light.
I can not say anything bad about Verilux Happy Lights. They are relialble, light settings are spot on and ease to use. Well what can you say about that, just sit and work and let so its job. I haven’t used the timer yet, as for size, great for small places and portable. I have used Verilux Happy Lights for many years and may different sizes, they keep getting smaller and better from the fluorescent (they were big) to the LED all are and were full spectrum. The trick is to fallow the directions and give yourself time to let it work. Doesn’t happen over night (none of them do) here time is your friend. By the way I live in Alaska, it gets dark for months. Long story short you can’t go wrong.

Great size, trash buttons
I like the size of this light. Itâs small enough to fit on my desk and doesnât take up all of the space. My only complaints is that the buttons arenât very responsive. I have to push them a few times for the light to turn on or for the timer to work. Itâs particularly annoying since they are on the lightâs face so I feel like Iâm being blinded while Iâm struggling to get the buttons to work. If the buttons were raised/tactile (or if they simply worked the first time) I could push them without having to look directly into the light.

Handy, desk-friendly SAD lamp
Personally I’m not the most enthusiastic believer in SAD lights — I end up trying to devices like this out for a while but then have a habit of not using them after a while as the novelty wears off, and it’s hard for me to say if the lights really improved my mood much in the meantime or not. However, I keep circling back to devices like this because I feel like I need to give them a more consistent chance: I have a lot of friends and relatives that swear by the benefits of sunlight-equivalent indoor lights, especially during the dark winter months or even year-round for those working or living in environments that don’t get a lot of direct sunlight (these lights are great for basements; and they can help you wake up in the morning, too, since they simulate natural light that your body and mind are meant to respond to)…. Anyway, as far as these types of therapy lights go — this is one of the smaller ones I’ve seen, which has positives and negatives: On the one hand, it’s not going to have a lot of impact unless you’re sitting pretty close to it, and you have it angled on something that’s near your face-level (like on a nightstand if you’re on your bed; or at your desk, if you’re working) — it’s not one of those big SAD lamps that are going to widely cast glowing sunshine across your room. On the other hand, what’s great is how light, thin, and portable it is — so you can easily move it from room-to-room in your house, or bring it to work or on trips. Anywhere you can plug in a USB device, you’ll be able to hook this up. And although it’s not huge, it is very bright.

I absolutely love my happy light. I have an extra large one in my home office, but this is perfect for the days when I have to go into the real office. Itâs portable, compact, lightweight, and easy to use. It is quite bright when you use it as you are supposed to (facing you) but I prefer it from the side or the back, and it is just as beneficial in those areas as well. Bright light always cheers me up on a cloudy day.

I just received this and tried it today. Iâve been excited to try it. Iâve used SAD lights on and off for many years. I live in a place that has many dark, gray, and rainy days in the winter.The light is very well-made and it looks nice. It comes with a very high quality cord and an adapter for plugging it into an outlet. It also has a built-in stand that you simply pull out and adjust to your desired angle. The light is super easy to set up. I read the brief set-up directions, unfurled the cord, plugged it into the adapter, plugged the adapter into the outlet, and pressed âonâ. After I finished reading the instructions, I tried the various brightness levels, and I set the timer for 15 minutes and used the light while writing some emails.There are buttons on the Happy Light Mini for on/off, brightness (2500, 5000, and 10,000k), and timer settings for 15, 30, 45, or 60 minute light sessions. The light will automatically turn itself off after the desired period ends. It also remembers the previously-set length of time for the next session.I am so pleased that Verilux is making this small and very portable SAD light. It will be fantastic for using at home and also for travel. The light I used previous to the Mini works great but itâs huge compared to the mini. It takes up a lot of horizontal and vertical space on a table and isnât easy to set up because itâs heavy and the stand is very awkward to put together.This Verilux mini Happy Light is small, very portable, and easy to set up and use. The buttons are essentially self-explanatory but I recommend that purchasers take time to read the brief instruction booklet. It is remarkably well-written, helpful, and complete! So much so that itâs almost refreshing to read! :o) When was the last time you could say that about an instruction booklet??! My husband and I both noticed and appreciated it. The booklet also contains some very helpful information on how to safely and effectively treat seasonal depression with the light (i.e., how to adjust the light so youâre not looking directly into it but it still shines on your face, how to adjust the angle, how long and how close to sit under the light, etc.).Verilux has been making lights of various kinds for a long time and in my opinion this company is reliable. They have a good reputation. Iâve had a couple other lights from them over the years (daylight lighting) and even though they are 15 or more years old, they both still work well. I only use them occasionally (for crafts and puzzles, and home improvement projects) but even after that long, I havenât yet needed to change the bulbs.Light therapy works well for me for the wintertime blues. It also helps me get better sleep. The trick is to actually use one! Having a light that is bright enough to be effective AND is super easy to carry, set up, and use makes it far more likely that I will use this as directed, i.e., consistently for 20 minutes a day at approx. the same time each day.Only time will tell how long I need to sit under this light to derive the desired benefits without overdoing it. Itâs different for everyone. My initial impression and usage is that this is a great light. Recommended!

I love how compact this is but unfortunately- the unit overheats and so does the plug inserted in the wall. I had to return this because I was afraid of my house being set on fire!I wished it worked without the overheating. I returned this and bought a new one which works great and no worries of having my house in ashes.
