What Every Kitchen Needs
If you are considering on upgrading your toaster oven or seeking options for an air fryer, this is the product you will want above all others. I upgraded my Oster Toaster oven that would only get up to 450° because I wanted the “Air Fryer” temps of 500°. Just in case you didn’t know, all an air fryer is, is an oven that can cook at high temps up to 500° while using convection (a fan) to move the air around for even “frying”. It does not actually fry like an oil fryer but it’s as close as you’re going to get without the oil and the mess. I have used other air fryers but their cooking space is limiting and results have been inconsistent in my experiences. Long story short, this oven cooked my egg in a ceramic bowl set to the same parameters of 450° for 15 minutes in 1/3 of the time. The Oster would do this from a cold start perfectly the way I wanted it… the newer oven did it in 5 minutes… so I’m very impressed to say the leastFirst off, I wanted a new oven that had the air fryer capabilities with adequate cooking space without having to pay for a name an IMHO a lesser cable product. After countless reviews, I settled on this NuWave Toaster/Air Fryer oven. It has one of the largest cooking spaces, smallest overall size for its cooking space, 5 year warranty, comes with a grate, fine mesh tray for frying, a non-stick griddle plate, internal temperature probe you can cook with, a bottom pull out crumb tray, 5 burners (2 bottom, 3 top), ability to vary the ratio of heat between the bottom and top elements, oven light, 3 fan speeds, a host of preset buttons for your baking needs and over a 142 user defined presets if need be. A lot of the features are overkill for most but it’s just as easy to use if need be or complex for anyone looking to customize this mini oven to do their bidding.Anyone looking to have a fully capable air frying, space saving, feature rich oven, this is the product for you. Cooking for two these days, my full size oven is used to store my cast iron skillets and oil pot for frying. I use this oven every day and I have not found anything it doesn’t do well other than cooking quicker than I might have fist anticipated. :DI did not give this product 10 stars because it wasn’t an option.. You’re cooking experience will be lacking if you don’t have an oven like this.

How does it compare to a Breville?
I’ve gone through 2 Breville Toaster ovens over the past 20 years. Both still work, but the convection fans stopped working after a number of years.Wanting to upgrade to an oven air fryer, I chose NuWave because it met all my requirements, plus some. It will fit my existing 13″ pizza stone and pans, my muffin tins, and even my 12″ frying pans that didn’t quite fit my old oven due the size of the handles. The pluses are the griddle, the probe, and the price. It’s significantly less expensive than a Breville.I don’t understand why NuWave has so many different models. Many of the differences seem to be model years and whether it includes the grill pan or not. And I think Amazon makes it even more complicated by mixing years and features within the same listing and duplicate listings with different prices. I eventually chose the 2024 model with grill pan, but received the 2025 version after a delay in shipping.My first thought is that the controls are way too complicated. Maybe it’s a design feature, but having an on/off button in addition the the start nob is taking some getting used to. And for all the built in settings, there isn’t one for bagels. I appreciate being able to control the % of heat split between top and bottom elements (another plus), and I’m sure I’ll find the perfect bagel setting. But, I sure do miss the simplistic control of my old oven with 3 nobs and 2 buttons to easily choose function, temperature, and time. And when it came to toasting, choosing slices and darkness, which automatically adjusted time based on the slices and whether the toaster was already hot from a previous use.I thought the grill plate would be great, and I’ve used it to make burgers and bacon so far. Both came out great but took a lot longer than I expected. The grill is much thinner than I anticipated. I though it might be iron, but feels more like aluminum, so it cools down quickly. I wish the flat side had a lip around the edge so it could be used without worrying something will drip off the edge. Might have been good for making pancakes if that had been the case.As for air frying, I don’t see a much difference between bake and air fry setting. Maybe it’s because both run with the fan on high by default. And so does toast for that matter.One last though, and something more to get used to, is that the oven pre-heat is an option, not a default. Seems to take longer to get to temperature too.Oh, and when time runs out at the end of a cycle, if you want to add a few more minutes, it doesn’t turn on with the settings you last used. You’ll need to start from the beginning. Hope you remember what temperature you were baking at!Bottom line when compared to the Breville Smart Oven is that you’ll probably miss those smart features.
