This is the best purchase I have ever made…seriously.
Look,I was as skeptical as anyone when I bought the thinking egg. My first thought was ” how exactly is a metal egg going to have any effect on my mental health?” But after it arrived, I started to understand how the egg isn’t representing its value in a tangible way, but more as a trigger for a different mindset. After years working in a high-pressure financial firm, living under constant stress was a way of life. In fact, I would often pride myself on being able to “handle” the constant internal and external demands of the job. It wasn’t until recently that I discovered what kind of long term damage this type of lifestyle can have on your brain and your creative abilities. I couldn’t continue to allow my mental health to take a back seat any longer. I needed some way to constantly check in with myself and focus on enjoying the moment. I tried doing this on my phone at first but it completely defeats the purpose. The second I would see a reminder to step away, another email would come in. Another text, another client demand, another thing to drag me back into the relentless work zone. It was escaping this cycle that the thinking egg represented for me.Every so often, I’ll reach in my pocket and feel the egg. Instead of grabbing my phone and mindlessly scrolling, I’ll hold the egg and check-in with myself. How am I doing? Am I happy with what I am doing today? How are my friends and loved ones doing? How can I be a better person for them? These constant reminders have done wonders for my own mental health and has stopped the cycle of just pulling out my phone whenever I’m not occupied. For that, The Thinking Egg has near-infinite value to me.When it is not in my pocket, I usually keep it displayed at home. I get a lot of comments on the design of the eggs and they are often noticed as soon as someone comes over.Thank you Orijin for helping me to train myself into putting my mental wellbeing first!

    Practice mindfulness
I know… it’s an egg, and not a cheap one. But for anyone looking to introduce mindfulness into a hectic life, it’s honestly perfect. Keep it in your pocket or purse, or visible on your desk when stationary for some hours. It has one purpose only, and one we forget all the time, so brushing up against it is a reminder to breathe or live life to the fullest or whatever else you personally need to be mindful of. The brass in particular has a meaningful weight to it, a pretty shine, and warms nicely in your hand.

Only buy it if you need something to fidget with.
So when I got it, it was scratched all over, but thankfully it wasn’t hard to buff and polish out. This definitely didn’t start it’s life out as a solid ingot of brass. This was definitely an ornament meant to go on something and had a brass screw screwed in at the bottom and cut off. Manufacturing aside, it’s a nice small brass egg that will help those with anxiety or people who want a nice fidget toy. It’s solid in the hands and the weight is good. It’s nice to hold and to helps keep you calm. Wish that it came with a little necklace pouch to carry it around in but that’s easy enough to find yourself. Overall anyone who’s complaining that it’s a waste of money honestly shouldn’t buy it cause it’s not meant for them. Don’t buy this for someone else unless they ask you to. This is definitely something that you buy yourself for yourself. I cannot attest to any healing properties. Overall not a bad buy.

Get one if you need it
I take it with me everywhere I go. It’s a nice reminder of many different things, it doesn’t have to be to take a step back or to calm your mind or anything like that, and that’s the advantage of having something that’s not easily mistaken for something else in your pocket, you immediately know if you have or not which brings to mind what ever it’s supposed to remind you of. In another review someone else said that you may as well grab a pebble from the ground. It’s not the same. Having a solid metal egg shaped object with it’s weight and heft is cool enough that it also serves the same purpose as a fidget spinner and a great conversation starter. The moment people see it, they want to hold it, they want to know more about it, more about why you have it and eventually start wondering if they should have one too.

    It’s definitely a brass egg
I shouldn’t be surprised but it’s exactly as I imagined. A weighty shiny egg. Nice to palm and roll around. I have polished it once already haha.

    A little disappointing…
I would give it 5 stars. I really like it. It’s very intriguing and I find it helpful as a symbol. However, it arrived with scratches and imperfections on the surface, which I found a little disappointing. I would expect the brass surface to be precisely crafted. It’s not horrible, but it’s not great either.
